SYNOPSIS: After halting the wagon train at a new camp site, Hale & Wooster follow smoke in the distance to an old, abandoned town. Suspecting Indians, they surprisingly find 2 white boys (Toddy & Johnny) working together in a blacksmith’s shop and more of them at a well with a man by the name of Sam Darland. Mr. Darland & his boys, originally coming out west, believed the town chose them to start a new beginning. They have great courage and faith, which protects them from all their hardships. Toddy (Billy Mumy) has really grown attached to the place, and wants to make this “Valley Haven” into a big city like Philadelphia. However, beans are the only food available, water is scarce, and Chief Red Cloud doesn't want the white kids or Mr. Darland on his land, causing the people of the Wagon Train to fear for the children’s safety. Mr. Hale believes the boys should have the freedom to stay where they are, but Mrs. Baxter really likes & wants to adopt Toddy, who reminds her of her own son, whom she lost at 18 in the (Civil) war, along with her husband. It's up to Chief Red Cloud to listen to Mr. Darland and start realizing that the white man are his friends or stop bothering them. As Bill Hawks & the boys start to leave for the Wagon Train, Toddy finds water!
