I have never ventured out of Bare Minerals for my face makeup. Except for lipsticks as that's not much of an issue. And your reviews are one of many reasons why i don't venture out of Bare Minerals. They have yet to disappoint me. P.S. That purple looks beautiful on you. Pastel colors might be your shades.

Companies make SO many light shades with different undertones as they go dark, but then they reach the POC zone where they make 5, but don't worry about the undertones, SMH Edit: I said dark bc of the fact that Nyma herself is dark, now a lot of you said that you also need paler shades too!! Companies just need more shade range _OVERALL,_ but I do feel like there are severely less POC shades still. Edited edit: Y'ALL DON'T NEED TO FIGHT! A company could have an overwhelming amount of POC colors, but lack the essential undertones that allow the man or woman to purchase the product and put it to use.

Taylor Jones / Honestly, people shouldn't get mad over the truth. I'm BEYOND pale, so it's so easy to find my shade WITH my correct undertone. Whereas ANYONE with a slightly deeper complexion has to be a few shades off and/or having their face warm toned while the rest of their body is cool toned. MAKEUP COMPANIES NEED TO WAKE UP

i mean, i'm mixed race and i tan sooo easily after only 2-3 hours of sun. it makes it pretty hard to find a good shade or stick to one, especially because i have olive skin too. no love for us shrek skins :(

You're gorgeous!! Thanks for this honest review!! But I have to remind some people, that this is an initial launch. They tried to include every skin tone (5 for pale, 5 for medium, 5 for dark) and of course there's not enough undertones for each category yet. They will obviously take their consumers' critiques into consideration so this video must be helpful to them. I just hate seeing CP being bashed on for trying so hard to get most people their first launch. I'm medium skin tone so of course they might not have my undertone cuz everyone is different. That being said, the concealers are supposed to be lighter than your skin tone so people are disregarding that as well. Overall, they are going to see this vid since you're obviously on their PR list and will take what you said in consideration for future launches. I think they did a great start and I'm excited to see more shades included! P.S. I've seen a lot of reviews where the product is actually darker on skin than in the tube!! You can immediately tell they oxidize so keep this in mind too :) this is for the people who are just judging them by the color of the tube.

You know what I find strange? That companies can completely understand and grasp the concept for having different lighter skin tones and undertones in lighter skin, but for some strange reason they can't grasp that same concept for darker skin tones. Like do you think darker skin people only fall under like 3-5 skin tones with like 1 type of undertone? Stupid. Hopefully colourpop will add more shades on the darker spectrum of it.

i've watched a good deal of vids on this product and there's just something so off about these. like no matter who it is, the darker shades just look a bit ashy to me, almost like there's sunscreen in them. and then the color selection seems poor. so this product is a hard pass for me. idk, it seems like whoever is working at colourpop has never heard of the word "undertones" or "diversity"

These, unfortunately, kind of suck. I've used a couple in several different skin tone "categories" for my kit. The dark/deep tones don't come anywhere near Nyma. I'm very pale and they tend to look orange on me (in the light range). They work more by temperature, like mood rings.

OnlyMichaelJackson (Angel) its not that people are trying to be vile. Some companies say "we got you covered " but are talking about women my color (im darker than this pic its lighting and a filter). Not everyone can afford those brands who cater to darker skin or get them in their country. I can find my shade or something workable and still hesitate at spending 40$ on foundation. Some people wear it daily and it goes fast. I personally think (as she does make money from the tube) people want to get an idea of what works. She has more financial room to explore so they ask. She even said the lancome foundation would be a long drive for her because its not accessible in her area. Not trying to argue but im seeing this reoccurring idea that we just want to play victim. PS in saying what i said, i am not taking away from the ghostly pale and their struggle.

I know a lot of you are giving the excuse that because the company is "small" or "new" they don't have many darker shades. But as a makeup company you should know that u have to cater to ALL skin tones before you even release your stuff because thats what gets you sales. Even if colourpop is "small" they had all that time and money to make all those light shades, but not enough time or money to make the darker ones? That doesn't really add up. Colourpop has been around for at least 2 years i think so it really shouldn't be a problem making darker shades for darker people because they should have some idea that darker poc exist and in this specific case black people. Black women have had these problems forever. Darker black women have always spoken out about it and you guys are telling me that because a brand is "small" or "new" they cant hear them? Look at L.A girl, they know what they're doing and they're drugstore. Although I'm not dark skin there seems to be a wide range of colors so really colourpop can step their game up and y'all need to stop giving them excuses. They know what they're doing.

Maryam Abdiruhman - the one thing is that "dark skin" really spans a very wide range of undertones so it's a lot more difficult to do a comprehensive selection. Because having warm, neutral, cool at every depth of skin is a lot more than doing it for pale skin. Without a doubt they should all be doing better though. But I think they mentioned in the intro video that the numbering left room for filling in the shades.

Scandi Snowgirl - So how did L.A girl do it? And every other make up company? L.A girl has 9 light shades and 9 dark ones, they seem to doing just fine because online they cost $5 and at my beauty supply store $3. They're all over instagram. Why are they so popular? BECAUSE THEY MADE ENOUGH SHADES FOR EVERYONE. It may have been costly as you say but I'm 100% sure they got that money back through sales. Its not impossible, you just dont wanna put the time into doing it. Making all those light concealers must've cost them a lot. Im sure colourpop has the money and patience to make darker concealers its just a matter of if they want to.

Maryam Abdiruhman - LA girl may have done it better but I still can't get a match with them with my approximately nc43 skin. We can continue to apply pressure and work towards improvements. Look how the hair industry has improved in the last 6 years or so!

klgpjjecfs - I definitely agree! You can always go darker, my point was just that you can have concealers catering to darker people without a problem. I hate when people give excuses like "its to expensive" or "the brand to small they're not ready for that" when they should know that having a makeup company is expensive! It will cost you a lot of money but it can also bring you a lot of money if you know what you're doing. Its unfortunate that companies still can't seem to grasp the idea of dark skin. Like its some sort of fantasy idea. Its not because people like Nyma shouldn't have to feel like makeup isnt for them. As a makeup company it is your duty to make products for everyone unless you state that you're catering to one specific race (which can be racist depending on who it is). So my point is make darker concealers/ foundations for darker people because they exist.

I just want to say for all going on about how colourpop doesn't have many colour we just need to remember they are still a relatively small brand and are just branching out to face products. They have said this is just a starting point and they are working at adding more colour diversity.

Mara Not exactly. The CEO's and founders of Colourpop have a combined experience of almost 40 years in the cosmetic and retail industry. Unlike most indie brands, it was developed over a short-market based mentality for younger consumers. This is not their first adventure into the cosmetic or lab realm. The point is that POC skin colors and undertones need to be taken into consideration despite pre-launches. This is not a typical "we have some purple tone eyeshadow now...but will expand." It demonstrates that dark and deep skin tones are not given priority in product development.

I am extremely pale and I've only ever found one that is actually lighter than my foundation. Its a problem for both not just woc. I think they did a great job five for light skin tones, five for medium skin tones and five for dark. They have to be a few shades light than foundation so they went pretty dark. I cant even use the lightest one on myself because its the same color as i am. They were very fair and you can see they tried hard and all people are doing is making it about race. Its not right

Kaylee Scott you can literally find your shade elsewhere. The problem for WOC is that they rarely get considered in any area of makeup. There is a lack of diversity in makeup and for you to say "wah why are they making it about race, when I'm pale and can't find my shade!" that's not the point. The point is that it's irresponsible to have all these shades, but never enough shades for WOC. It's not that hard to do nor comprehend.

jacpppp bruh. chill. It would be dumb to make 12 shades of black before making the white shade since there are WAY more white women buying makeup and living in America. Colourpop is basically testing the water. Its pretty normal.
