If you google “Colt Python trigger sear hook”, you’ll see the little ledge that Colt added to pass the drop test in California and Massachusetts. One of my 4.25” Pythons had a pretty good SA, but the other had the excessive hook. That was simple enough to quickly file off, and greatly improved the trigger. My 3” Python was fine from the factory. The easiest way to tell if your hammer has an excessive hook, is to cock it into SA, and slowly pull the trigger. If the hammer moves back at all during the SA pull, a few swipes with a file will help clean that right up. 👍👍👍👍
I got the new python in December 2022 just put wilson combat rear battle sight on it i left the front sight on. I think i'll get another python in 3" in 2024 Update I couldn't wait until 2024 I got the 3" python 7/23😊
The Wilson Combat sights are magnificent! I’ve purchased two 4.25” Pythons, and one 3”. The WC sights seem like they’re welded in place, and do t require a ridiculous little set screw for windage.
Hello again @Frank Butta! Hope you and your wife are still enjoying hobbies together! O man that’s awesome to hear. I couldn’t find any feedback regarding the WC sights. Can’t wait to get a pair of my own.
Man what a beauty of a gun, I own the 6 inch an love the damn thing so much I said i love you too it and my wife thought I was speaking to her so I went with that
I have two Pythons '69 blue and '73 nickel both 4 in. The nickel is my favorite gun. The nickel finish just feels good in the hand. Would like to have a new Python in 6 in and have it polished out with old style grips.
@@OdysseyToOpulence no they sent me a shipping label and instructions to return it. They didn’t ask any questions about Ammo type they just sent it like it was no big deal.
Oooo gotcha. That's awesome to hear. Thanks for the response @Neil Hartigan. Hope it comes back functioning well. A couple of our subscribers got theirs back from Colt and they said they're not experiencing issues anymore
When compared to my colt trooper mk iii the single action trigger pull leaves something to be desired, but this revolver has the best double action pull of any I’ve ever shot. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of this gun. My rear sights have the same issue as yours though, tightening down the set screw helped a lot but they still move on their own. I plan on getting a set of Wilson sights too. This thing is a shooter!
You are a good shot but.. for accuracy testing I always shoot from sandbags at 25 yards and use my best 3 out of 5.. Takes most of the human error out of it... Have I ever damaged a crown? naaa. more chance of messing up a crown is more likely to happen from cleaning it to death. Metal... sad to say me and buddies really messed up some model 29 'Dirty Harry' guns with heavy loads. 'Recently' I got a 629 Smith.. it is stronger.. no doubt and I do not shoot crazy 1970 pressure rounds anymore. LOL... the sights... Fixed sights are not too bad... Be honest.. how often do we actually adjust the rear sight? once we get our favorite load POA? we never touch em again unless they break. I have 100 year old fixed sight revolvers that I know exactly where they shoot and that is good enough for me.
I own the 6 inch and 4 inch over all good guns. How ever I don’t like the rear sight and I wish the trigger was more like how the Anacondas trigger was made more rounded and not so sharp.
Hey @Busta Bass. Thanks for the comment. I agree with you! I purposely titled it so that it sparks some research and curiosity into supporting our country's brands. Trying to make sure we support our country's iconic brands so that they can stay on the homefront as much as possible. CZ first acquired Dan Wesson and now Colt. CZ is known for quality and happy they were able to keep Colt from going out of business, but it would have been nice if Colt was never put in that position.
