The best way to check a barrels chamber is to use a function gauge. I have never personally seen a Colt barrel fail with a function gauge..Even the new Colts are well made..
That is one nice rifle. The problem with Colt is they are subcontracting for various parts and they are not required to mark them as such. So now you pay extra for Colt but much is subcontracted out.
every contracted part received by Colt must be manufactured to their specific drawings and materials. i have barrels with various proof marks( Rosco, Wilson Arms and Green Mountain) and they all gage out and perform exceptionally well. the two SOCOMS are Rosco and sub MOA every freaking time!
@ghostblack9209 I wouldn't. Fn can't make civilian rifles the same as they would for military contract rifles. Colt can do that since they don't have a separate line for commercial firearms and they still own the tdp. Fn isn't allowed to do that.
@@THEPAGUNGUY From a colt friend of mine: 'The Colt company emblem is a modification of the Colt family coat of arms dating back to medieval England. In ancient heraldry a horse is a symbol of loyalty and service to a monarch. A broken spear or lance symbolizes a fallen knight. The famous Rampant Colt Pony is taken from the coat of arms, and pictures a horse defending it's fallen knight by breaking a lance in half, one half over it's legs and the other in it's mouth. This is an ancient symbol of loyalty.'
I just got one too. 5/31/22 production date. So damn nice. My upper receiver has keyhole with cage code. I also snagged a 2022 AR15A4. The AR15A4 does not have a cage code on the upper but is m4 marked.
Yea I was thinking of getting a A4 as well I have one that is build w PSA parts but I've been trying to get away from PSA. I just don't want a A4 that says carbine on the lower. If they would put AR-15A4 back on the lowers I'd buy one. This is my 2nd colt and I love them.
So when I got this I was tied between a BCM complete rifle or the colt monolithic M4 but being a military collector guy I decided to go w this and I'm glad I did. Colt has alot of nice ARs out there for sale.
I took the EPR over the SOCOM because I wanted a lighter weight carbine. Realize thought that the SOCOM comes with everything you need out of the box except an optic. The EPR needs rail covers, an upgraded pistol grip, an optic, and whatever else you want to make it comfortable. It's not really a finished gun that's gtg out of the box imo.
The I and the O represents the hard chrome vendor, not an outsider barrel contractor. If it the same as your 2009 Colt. I have the same I on mine. Did a lot of searching for the same question. Im hoping the I stands for In-house production. Maybe someone can give Us the right Answer.
Hi, would anyone happen to know who or what the “ I “ stamped mark on the 6920 barrels under the handguards by the chamber and delta ring means?. It looks like a hash mark. “R” = Rosco, “G” = Green Mountain, “W” = Wilson, I just don’t know who the “I” is from. Also, does any know if the 6920 barrels are fully chrome-lined; chamber and the bore/barrel ? And lastly, are 6920 barrels fully rifled the full 16” barrel length?. Reason I ask this, I once heard back when Colt had the military contracts, the barrel rifling tooling was only 14.5” for the military, so the civilian 16” barrels weren’t fully rifled the whole length, instead the last 1.5” were merely a void of some sort or a sleeve. Any light on any of this by anyone would be appreciated by all. Thanks! :)
all are fully chrome lined and rifled from end to end. still trying to discover what mfg uses the "I" mark. my first rosco marking was so faint it looked more like magnifying glass than an R.
Nice rifle. I'd like to see a comparison to the FN m4a1. I have a feeling the FN is nicer with less subcontracted parts(well at this point I have no idea if colt makes anything). I was about to buy the colt until they shot up over $1500. For what I see them for now I can live without it.
Waaaaah it doesn't have marks that mean nothing because there's only a few forging facilities that make these. Send it back. It's definitely not worthy. Especially with that gReAsE on it.
