Columbia Fire Dept. Demonstrates Using a Dry Hydrant 

The Lower Richland area of Columbia is rural and relays on dry hydrants to suppress fires. The majority of these hydrants were lost or damaged, during October’s flood. This has complicated firefighters’ response and altered their response routes. The department is aggressively working to remedy this issue.
