There are some great views on Hwy. 14 on the Washington side, heading east, that are not to be missed; take advantage of every pullout. Westbound on I-84 gives you a great riverside view. Eastbound on I-84 gives you a great view of the falls, as well as being able to take advantage of some parks that can only be accessed from that side. The historic highway is absolutely stunning. When you mentioned not taking an RV on the historic highway, I thought of my dad, who drove a log truck on that highway before anyone thought of putting a freeway through the gorge. If you love trains, Union Pacific's line goes right by Viento State Park's RV campground. Lots of great restaurants in the gorge as well
What a little champ Barkley is! Obvious he's happy wherever he goes as long as he's with the two of you. He looks like such a good boy and a very contented, joyful guy. :)
Great video. I will be there in 3 weeks. Some questions if you dont mind. Where did you get that shot of the rapids at the beginning of video? Where is the discovery museum? And lastly, the last shot overlooking the Vista House in the distance? And one more! Can you see Mt. Saint Helens, Rainier and Adams from the VH? Thanks!
We live in the Tri-Cities, (Richland) Washington and we've been by these waterfalls literally hundreds of times, but never stopped. Thanks to you're video we're going to take the pickup and 5th wheel and boondock in the gorge and take in the sites. Thank you so much for sharing.
We very happy that our video has played a part in getting you guys out to take a closer look at the wonders in your area. You're quite welcome. Let us know how your trip(s) go. Thank you for watching and subscribing.
I am so ready to spend next summer wandering Oregon after watching just 3 of your videos! They are very well produced and I have learned so much about Oregon. Thank you for you great video tours!
You are very welcome, Mary. We hope you have a great time. Please keep us posted on your travels in Oregon. Thanks for watching, liking, commenting, and sharing our videos.
As my wife and I prepare our home for sale and make our plans to embark on a life on the road (from the east coast) I love you guy's style of video. Laid back, road scenes, natural scenes, historic scenes and then the Q&As. We'll probably not get to the central or western parts of America until 20 or 21 but truly look forward to seeing some of the sites you've shown us, using some of your tips and possibly even meeting up. Safe travels and keep up the awesome work!
I've watched ALOT of full time rv'ing videos and already I think you two have chosen the best locations. I'm a native Oregonian living in Washington for years. I cant even phantom the thought of leaving home sweet home. The Columbia gorge is the best choice for us as well. Like I said, can't leave home... there is no better place to be but the PNW
We're glad you loved it. It makes us happy to know what we share is enjoyed by others. Oregon is a wonderful place. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Another beautiful video with lots of great memories for my wife and me. Wondering what you use to get such steady shots as you walk. Really easy on the eyes compared to most walking shots, including mine!
Thank you very much. Most, with very few exceptions, of the video is all shot handheld - even with deep zoom. We do have tripods and monopods available, but rarely used - mostly due to inconvenience and opportunity. Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Nice trip. You are incorrect about the waterfall. There are many falls in Yosemite that are taller by far. Yosemite falls is well over two thousand feet and several others are over 1500 feet so other than that nice video I lived in the gorge 25 years ago .skamania
We've been there many times and various times of the year. This particular trip was during the summer. Yes, we had reservations. Thanks for watching, liking, commenting, and subscribing.
Love watching you guys! We live in Oregon and are planning to sell our home and get a fifth wheel in three years. One question: how comfortable is your truck seat for long drives? My husband has a bad back and I'm curious how cushy and ergonomic those seats are. We're planning on getting a 1-ton.
We're glad you love watching our videos. Well, the seats aren't the most comfortable, but they have adjustment control that help to change the driver's seat position to provide some lumbar support and relief. Rest (stretch) stops and shorter drive periods for each days goes a long way at helping with back troubles. Congrats on your decision. Thank you for watching and subscribing.
We have a 5th wheel, so we were unhitched and drove our truck down the narrow, historic highway 30. There are places that an RV just cannot or should not go, but that's when we simply 'camp' nearby and drive the truck. Thank you for watching.
The stamps are available at National Parks, historical sites, and many other points of interest (local, state, federal). Just get a book amzn.to/2hUq520 and you're ready to get stamps and stickers. Thanks for watching. :)
The passport books are available in national parks and some other points of interest. They are typically found in the visitor centers or gift shops. The stickers are normally in the same place. Stamps can be obtained from many points of interest and parks, etc. Thanks for watching.
