I'm a Columbine grad (not THAT year, I'm a bit younger than that, some of my classmates were younger relatives of victims), but the shooter "fandom" makes me fucking sick because of how much this tragedy still affects the community. The big memorial was put up while I was still in school. The trees on the ceiling above the lunch room represent the victims. A few years ago they considered demolishing the school because of the threats they still get every year, and the tourists that come by to take pics even though it's a functioning school. Anyways. I'm happy you're talking about it because I feel like this shit festers more when it's ignored.

I had a friend/acquaintance who was very deep into this. She read all of the diary inputs from both Dylan and Eric. Watched all the footage. She and her friendship group, they all don't care at all about the people murdered in that mass shooting, and only sympathize with Dylan and Erics indignation. There are so many more people like this than you might think.

This hits close to home.. I live near Columbine and my dad actually is buried less than 100 ft from Rachel Scott and others who rest there at that cemetery. It was a yearly PSA on gun violence and Craig also visited our school and many others.. This tragedy DECIMATED our state.. The impact it had on our community and Coloradans is abhorrent.. this boils my blood… Sol Pias came here when my nephews were in school and they had to go into lock down…these tic Toks and “fan” pages… all this makes it that much worse and sickening.. I don’t think they understand the damage they are doing… it’s evil

former tcc member here. these accs were EVERYWHERE even back then. most tcc members either do this bc they're edgy teenagers or their mental health is genuinely going downhill. (which was both for me when i was into that stuff) which can lead to these people connecting to the personal health of the perpetrators (specifically dylan i see often) at the end of the day, these accs are heavily disturbing but sometimes you gotta keep in mind that theyre just 14 year olds who believe they're misunderstood not excusing, just explaining also, VoDKa was dyl's nickname back then

I was a little kid when columbine happened. School changed SO much for a while. That was the first time i knew school shootings could be. ID badges happened, there was an over the top "no threat" policy incorporated. And i went to a podunk midwest school. I remember kids getting suspended for holding their fork in a friend's direction. Adults were terrified. And they made little kids freaked out. It's wild people would turn this into some bizarre joke.

something i learned moving from the midwest to a place where i can see the world trade tower from my apartment: when you hear of some tragedy that is so physically far removed and long ago, and especially when you hear it repeatedly as a political message, it becomes difficult to associate the reality of the tragedy with the political chess piece that it appears. once you actually go to the heart of these communities you see that this pain and grief and loss is still every single day. families still ache for their loved ones. the messages of strength and power and calls for change arent empty, they are as gutted and true as the cries of pain and sorrow. You have to know that you will never understand the depths of their loss. no one has "moved on" or "forgotten" and your jokes and tumblr blogs arent ever going to be appropriate for the communities torn apart by violence. truly disgusting behavior.

Years ago I was a part of tumblr's "true crime community" from a purely research-based perspective. I live in Australia and gun violence always perplexed me as a young kid/teen so I was quite morbidly fascinated. Cases such as Columbine still interest me to this day, but I had to distance myself from the TCC because I was sick and tired of seeing my posts get reblogged by fan accounts of the perpetrators. Btw this isn't some new thing this started on tumblr all the way as early as 2015 I remember seeing it there and digging into it out of morbid curiosity. I found it when I started getting into true crime stuff as a teen and yeah a lot of the true crime tags on tumblr were filled with teen girls romanticizing killers and making edits of them I found it very weird and disturbing.

I'm so glad you talked about this because even though I don't see such things on my fyp, I used to see them back in like 2021, and it's disgusting to think that people can go as far as to ignore all the bad things someone has done because they find them attractive, it truly proves that pretty privilege exist and is a problem. And it's still an issue today, like with booktok and the edits(and apparently a book based off of him) they make of Wade Wilson, which is so bizarre to see or hear about. keep an eye out for zero day fans too, theyre just (typically) as bad. This has also always been a huuuugeee issue , ESPECIALLY on tumblr back in the day.

Some zero day fans actually don't associate with the tcc and will put a DNI for tcc in their bio. A lot of tcc do really like zero day though 😬😬

This is very morbid but I remember a case back in 2019 about a 18 year old girl named Sol Pais who had an obsession with Eric Harris (He’s the one who carried the attack on Columbine along with Dylan Klebold) she was very mentally ill and actually believed that her and Eric were soulmates and reality shifting with him. On April 15 she flew to Colorado purchased a shotgun and took an Uber at Mt Evans and took her own life (one the biggest theorist that she picked that place because it was supposedly where Eric Harris’s ashes were scattered and she wanted to be closer to him) also when you articles about her and it mentioned about before making threats to schools turns out she never wanted to hurt any but herself and she was actually dead before the manhunt happened and her body was found on April 17th

i did a presentation on these kinds of people (more specifically on tumblr, and broader than just columbine) in high school, probably 2017-2018. it was interesting to see the reactions to this kind of depravity- glorifying and romanticizing mass murderers/serial killers with cutesy posts, tattoos, and other stuff. i asked some questions at the end about if they thought these types of people could be dangerous, what could lead to that kind of obsession, etc. it was a really interesting (yet disgusting) phenomenon to learn and present about.

As someone who is in tcc (true crime community, the people who these kinda posts. While I do not personally do them I do follow/am friends with those who do) this is very normal. From the fanart to thirst traps to DID alters to AI voice covers this is by far the least weirdest thing you can find on Tumblr/tiktok/anywhere else. Its perfectly normal to be scrolling through your Tumblr dash and see Dylan klebold hitting the griddy.
