You'll notice that Columbo very carefully and without attracting any suspicion, advised her to remain silent, thus rendering her confession admissible.

@NuisanceMan
@NuisanceMan 3 года назад
@Maximillian Wylde Incorrect. In California, assault is putting someone in reasonable FEAR of imminent bodily harm. It doesn't even require contact. If you actually cause bodily harm, that's battery. I must have watched a dozen Columbo episodes on RU-vid and none of them had even a quarter of the resolution that this clip does. Compared to them this feels like "Columbo 4K."
@patrickjohnson5658
@patrickjohnson5658 5 лет назад
I think it has to do with copyright law. This an official Columbo channel so they can upload in full HD resolution. If other channels put up full episodes or clips in this quality, the copyright holder would demand YT take them down.
@TheNameOfJesus
@TheNameOfJesus 5 лет назад
@@patrickjohnson5658 Well it does look official, though I can't prove it. It's hard to be sure since some of this channel's videos just say "not available in your country".
@patrickjohnson5658
@patrickjohnson5658 5 лет назад
@@TheNameOfJesus The reason I mention it is one Columbo uploader when asked that question said the copyright holder was more likely to allow it to stay up if they uploaded only a low resolution copy, and agreed they couldn't monetize it. Any money made from people viewing it would be split between YT and the copyright holder.
@TheNameOfJesus
@TheNameOfJesus 5 лет назад
@@patrickjohnson5658 Well you could be 100% right, and it sounds logical, but I can't find any evidence to support the idea that the actual copyright holder published these clips.

When you want a stage slap to work you have to put some oomph in it. I think he would have expected it, being the kind of actor he was. Cagney used to spontaneously do violent slaps, etc., without telling the other actor. Thus, the grape fruit scene when he rubbed a half in the actress' face. She didn't know he was going to do that. I can't remember her name - great actress (sorry!) but she said it was painful and left her shocked and distraught.
@AlanCanon2222

@@victoriajarvis2260 I was in a stage show where my character got beat up by another character played by a way better actor than me. She was hitting me kinda hard. I said, "You know, Hallie, you're a more experienced actor than I am" (she was, too, ten times better and more experienced) "but isn't there such a thing as pulling your punches?" She just looked me dead in the eye, smiled, and said, "P*ssy!" I let her hit me as hard as she wanted for the rest of the run. It really wasn't all that hard.

“Nobody sees anybody truly but all through the flaws of their own egos. That is the way we all see ...each other in life. Vanity, fear, desire, competition-- all such distortions within our own egos-- condition our vision of those in relation to us. Add to those distortions to our own egos the corresponding distortions in the egos of others, and you see how cloudy the glass must become through which we look at each other. That's how it is in all living relationships except when there is that rare case of two people who love intensely enough to burn through all those layers of opacity and see each other's naked hearts.” Tennessee Williams.

Did you know that they made a TV series called "Mrs. Columbo", starring Kate Mulgrew, 1979-1980? Later we got to know her as Captain Janeway of "Star Trek: Voyager".
@patrickjohnson5658
@patrickjohnson5658 5 лет назад
Yes, but I think it was basically a marketing gimmick to cash in on the Columbo brand after the original 1970's seasons ended a year or so before. I don't think it was too successful though, as it only ran about 13 or 14 episodes in total. I also loved the Star Trek Voyager series with Kate Mulgrew as the captain.
