Funny, you’re very observant. Columbo would be proud. I like you caught the fact they put the older Columbo on the first seasons and how they didn’t package the DVD’s very well. I hope you do something on all the episodes.

Hi, I watched your review of "Etude In Black" last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your insightful comments. I have been a Columbo aficionado for many years and actually bought a Blu-Ray collection of the entire Columbo episodes a few years ago. Unfortunately it was produced in Japan - where Columbo was equally popular - so much of the accompanying literature is in Japanese!

I juest found your channel and subbed after like 5 minutes of watching "A Stitch In Crime" episode. Now I'm going back to the beginning and probably gonna binge them today. I'm on a sick leave with two broken wrists, Columbo is my comfort TV for such ocasions and I'm stunned there's not that many channels dedicated to it. Yours is of top quality, gotta say. Surprising that you have such high views and yet such low sub count. Weird, but I guess it's the views that count in the end. Good luck, m'am.

I have this set too and had quite a few loose disks as well (thankfully no scratches). As far as the printed title indexes, I just took a picture of each and consult that. The three Ms. Columbo episodes I was not expecting so all in all, I'm happy. The color coding appeals to my neat freak personality. 😊

I ended up organizing the disks into a CD folder and making little index cards for each disc with the episodes listed. I really appreciate the color coded disks, too. Take care!

Wow. I have the old complete series with the 8 (I think) dvd cases. i bet yours has the same dvds though. I really kind of prefer your slip cover. But I enjoy my dvd covers with different ages of columbo. especially with columbo and his car. Also, you have tiny hands. and WOW is that a heck of a ring!

My mom has the DVD collection you have. It has all the same discs, but this set I have is cheaper made with less material. I do like the box picture, though. I keep it on display on my bookshelf. Haha, maybe my hands just appear tiny. I kind of consider them average. Thank you for the compliment of my ring 🤍

I am a fan of Columbo like you and the others that watch your channel. I like the extra info you put in. Amazing. Seems like many of todays shows are full of cliches and are not as interesting. Times change I guess. Even though technology changes, human motivations do not. These storylines in Columbo transcend the generations.

Thanks for all your videos they are awesome! I also bought this DVD complete set and was disappointed in how flimsy it was. I originally bought the separate season releases when they originally were released on dvd in a much better digipack fold package. I now have the Blu-ray imported version (which has a much improved picture quality) and I will probably buy the future 4k release (if it is ever done) because I can't help myself. One of my favorite features of buying dvd/blu-ray's is the extras mainly the commentaries and sadly none of these releases have any commentaries, that's why I am so grateful for your efforts it really adds to the enjoyment of these episodes. Thank You!

I am seriously considering the Blu-Ray collection. Is there anything about the Blu-rays that is different than DVD besides the picture quality? Thank you for your kindness. Whoever put together the Columbo collection on DVD had no true heart for the series.

@@WatchitforDays Hello, there are no extras, aside from more subtitles and the original mystery movie opening title. So the blu-ray is only for better picture quality. All the blu-ray's are imports but they will still play on most blu-ray players even if they are region coded. Thanks again and I look forward to your future content.

I have all the series and all came with those snap in disk holders and i think they could have just used sleeves with the info and would have been easier to find fast and stay neater.

@@WatchitforDays watch out for a friend indeed. For some reason it seems to skip on every one of those seasons I've owned. They may have fixed it by now. Enjoy! There's a few that I can't watch more than once such as last salute to the commodore, lady in waiting and no time to die. I actually think the last one is pretty good.

Yes, I've been very happy with it. Watched all the episodes within a couple months. But am I really happy with how the discs are packaged inside? No, not at all. I've transferred all the discs to a CD book for much easier access. But I keep the box out as decoration because it is a great picture.

@@WatchitforDays yes, I am disappointed they dropped the price to $109 so not too bad if you want to 1080p quality and they will have Isolated music tracks. Since I already have the import Columbo Blu-ray set I might skip the Kino. Weird that they would change it after advertising it at first but I will look froward to your commentaries as they come.

Packaging was crap so I put mine in a CD book. Same with a lot of other DVD box sets. Magnum PI , Lost In Space, Star Trek TOS etc. I only paid $55 for the Columbo box set at Walmart in Fort Erie Canada. Now for some reason it goes for over $100.

I also paid about $55 for this set. And I do agree with you that this is not a great setup with the stacked and overlapping disc's. That is a very good idea to put them in a cd book! I think I will take your advice.

@@WatchitforDays Best packaging was 1966 Batman series. I'm 60 years old and grew up with all these 60 s & 70 s shows either in re-runs in the 70 s or first runs such as The Six Million Dollar Man and Happy Days. All these new shows go right over my head. .

I Bought the seasons individually as the were first released, back in the day -- Ive been planning on buying a "Complete Series" set if a nice one came along, but i have to say, this one looks a bit thrown together haphazardly. Doubled up discs and an unwieldy 7 seasons in one obviously less than sleek, box -- meh -- i think they could do a bit better....but if i didnt have all the episodes already, id deal with it. Hopefully someday, theyll give us a real in depth set with lots of extras. Hopefully someday.

You will find out when you watch the very last episode the quality slightly drops off. This is probably due to the limited memory capacity of the DVD.

So I guess this is only the original 1971-1978 run of Columbo, that doesn't have any of the more recent episodes. (Probably also has the 1968 TV movie on it, the first time Peter Falk played Columbo, before Columbo was officially a series).

@@hblanche I've never heard of Kino Lorber before. But no, I haven't upgraded yet. I don't actually know what the advantages of getting the blue rays are. Do they come with more features?

@@WatchitforDays Sadly no. They planed to add more features; but there was some sort of legal problem. However, I have compared the DVD's wiyth the Blu-Rays, and the image quality is definitely better with the latter.

There are not that many TV shows worth buying the entire series and rewatching multiple times. Columbo is one of them. I would also add I Love Lucy and Star Trek to the list. Overall I think the original 70's series is superior to the later revised series. The original series is a timeless classic. The later series had some decent episodes but could never replicate the original. Actually it patterns how I feel in general about modern television vs. the shows from television's golden era. Are you a copy of Colombo doesn’t have all the seasons does the first seven? The show is listed on IMDb as running through 2003. Grant you there were a lot of downtime between nature TV, movies and such. Hopefully you’ll cover that made for TV movie that came later. For example the one where his daughter is kidnapped on her wedding night. That was a good one. I look forward to seeing the episode. Where is he? Hollywood executive is the killer and Colombo has to catch him. And there’s a scene in there where he goes through this whole thing about whites and illusion and smoke and mirrors. It’s quite interesting actually. One of the background things in that episode shows a cylon raider from the original Battlestar Galactica coming at you. Rather interesting.

It would seem like it would be easy for Columbo to have been digitally mastered in the equivalent of 4k (for 4x3 aspect ratio). Oh wow, I found blu ray Columbo complete set for $214.73 on amazon. Yikes too expensive for me. I'll just stick to roku channel free and all those annoying ads.

I have been trying to get in an episode or two about every evening using the Roku channel to do it. I think you have an advantage by using the DVDs, as you don't have to put up with constant ads 😅😅

@@WatchitforDays Welp, they removed it from the Roku channel before I could finish them up. They are on Tubi, and there's fewer ads, so it's kind of nice. I love the way you analyze these episodes. Columbo was my favorite when I was a little kid.

Plus, there is quite a bit of cross pollination between both series. Judging from your love of classic things from the 70’s I think you will really dig Rockford. Jimbo is right up there with Columbo in my book. James Garner like Peter Falk was such a great actor and a class act. Btw, I love your channel. this is worst package I seen my entire life dvd on top each other is horrible idea every one knows dvd can scratched so eazily specially you use em all the time no I dont except this package. I hate it I grow up with this series. since I was child when I saw this package I aint supporting it because. dvds on top on each other ruin. everything because they trying save some money. is totally lazy. trying screw us fans over stupid set package whatever was thinking was good idea should be fired. specially big fan like me. totally breaks my heart and I am sorry I wasnt upset at you I am glad I saw youre. video convinced me not supporting. this bad package I dont like dvd top on each other. I seen this allots times my collection ruined my. dvd my favorite. shows I love and not gonna. deal with this again. just wanna say thanks making video. sharing means allot.

I don't know who put these box sets for release, but it's worse than the double-sided discs on the season sets that were released around the 2000s (October 16, 2012)
