it get's better. His first name is Franck. Kira, guessing that c is there would need him to assume Columbo has a non-standard spelling of his first name, something like Franc, Franq, Phrank, etc...Or even assume Francis, François, Frankie, Franken, Fran...He'd have to actively brute-force the name. And even if he *saw* it written down? Franck comes across as a spelling mistake.

Like the time the creator of Trivial Pursuit put in a false fact that his name was Philip, because they stole their trivia questions from a guy who wrote encyclopedias on trivia put that in as a way of telling if someone was copying his books.The Author didn't manage to get to court since Trivial Pursuit's creators claimed they had been open and tried to contact him several times to use his books for research.

Nobody know his first name. The name on his badge and mentions in police records are all wrong.

@@TheFuneralKing And people who know it wouldn't pronounce the c, so he'd hear it said Frank, and assume that it was a spelling mistake if he saw the name before hearing it which would then falsely confirm it as a spelling mistake, or he'd assume the spelling was Frank with how people pronounce it. And that's only if he managed to get Detective Coloumbo's first name, what with no one ever using it professionally.

@ShiftyMcGoggles another thing (if I remember right) is that you need to write someone's full name, and Frank is short for Francis, but Franck most likely isn't, so there's another layer of protection due to his confusing name

Only if you do it on purpose in order to shield them from that death note. If you misspell someone's name four times by accident, nothing happens to you.

​@@red_five3325I think it's either or. If you fuck up their name repeatedly, they become immune to the Death Note but you're fine. If you intentionally misspell it, you die, but they're still vulnerable.

You only die if you spell the name wrong 4 times on purpose And I'm pretty sure they only become immune that that specific Death Note, though I could be wrong on that
