i was gonna say....one of the more interesting hoods featured here. loved the dad casually spinning a basket ball as his daughters fell down around him on rollerskates lol
hilltop is for sure a bit run down but i don't think it's that "hood." there are plenty of neighborhoods on the east side i wouldn't even feel comfortable driving thru
Have said this in previous vids about Columbus, but one of the things about the city is that a lot of the bad areas don't *look* like you'd expect slums to: they still have single-family homes in them without a ton of broken or boarded-up windows, no huge piles of trash or large swaths of abandoned buildings, etc. But the drugs, violence, shootings, and poverty are definitely there.
This is very true. I lived in this exact hood (he went by my old place) and it definitely didn't feel as safe as this video makes it look. Seeing prostitutes and drug deals all the time right out front of my duplex door was something else.
Columbus Ohio hoods are disappearing fast a lot of money changing hands people are coming in buying up a lot of property they are pushing a certain people out of certain neighborhoods
BORN AND RAISED IN COL OH ON THE SOUTH SIDE ALL I CAN SAY IS TIMES CHANGE AND SO DO PEOPLE. STAY PRAYED UP AND CHERISH THE OLD MEMORIES U HAVE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME
cool you were in my city! if you ever come back, check out 5th ave thru 11th ave east, cleveland ave, east livingston ave and milo grogan. those are places i 100% couldn't walk alone in.
@@RR-bb2lk idk about serial killers but there were two separate double homicides in the apartment block across the street from my workplace on E livingston. but other than that yeah why not
I have fond memories of living in Columbus. One nice thing about it that you can see in the video is that it is very integrated. I don't think there are many cities in the US where all races live in the same neighborhoods.
I lived by 17th and Hamilton,. It was worse than most anything i seen in ohio. I lived in Mansfield, Cleveland, Springfield. Alot of columbus hood don't look bad. But the bottoms, Wedgwood, linden, Livingston, parsons, I seen stuff that's worse than most any thing.
@@cory4419 I heard its crazy now. I actually had a job going door to door in hilltop, the neighborhoods I was in back then honestly want bad especially coming from Cleveland. But I heard the west side is just crazy now.
Columbus’s bad neighborhoods aren’t that bad really at all. I stayed there in 22 and never felt like it was violent or dangerous . It’s a very nice town.
Lived in Columbus my entire life (29 years) and while there are bad areas, it’s nothing like most major cities, (Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis, Detroit, etc.)
I'm in N Linden it's not as bad as most area's of "The Hood" though we do have a growing number of homeless and panhandlers here that didn't use to be.. I've lived here 30 years own my home and unfortunately our area has become popular to investors and people moving in from out of state property values in this neighborhood have tripled in the past 5 years. S Linden a whole different story. Anna In Ohio
Columbus is full of opportunity. The economy there is boming n there's a lot of money. If you stay living like this, it's because you want to not because you have to. I'm from Gary Indiana, a place that's truly dead n devoid of opportunity
Tell me, what kind of opportunities are there in Columbus right now? You sound knowledgeable, so can you name some? If you're not willing to do that much, then you shouldn't be making irresponsible comments about other people's lives, people whom you know nothing about.
Ty for showing the BAD parts of Columbus, the city itself is quite nice but if you go anywhere on the outskirts its like this unless you're in the upper arlington/dublin areas
Wait what? ONLY 1k to rent a whole entire house???? Bro I’m in my way! That’s actually amazing. I don’t even care if it’s in the hood 🤷♀️ I’m On my way!
They weren't like they are now when I lived there and my 2 daughters went to Eakin elem, wedgewood mid, & Briggs hs before they went to Tx w/my sis. Very few of my peeps stayed, many either died or moved to southern states where its warm!
The first minute and 10 seconds I saw my neighborhood and yes it is a hot mess when I first moved to Ohio Columbus was not bad but now the west side is the worst side closer to downtown the worse it is you get past Georgesvill Rd. and you’re good to go. No matter where you decide to move into Columbus Ohio makes sure it is far away from downtown as possible that’s the only way you’re gonna be happy
Cbus def has some parts of town that could be rough. near the state fairgrounds, the bottoms, Hilltop, parts of parsons, etc. But just keep to yourself you'll be fine.
I have lived in Columbus my whole life and I've been all over this city, yes it's got some rough Parts but overall it is not that bad of a city and there's more nicer places in Columbus then there are bad. Most people in Columbus keep to themselves, if you don't start anything there won't be anything.
Yes I happen to live in a part of N Linden where we all still know each other, share coffee on our porches together though it's sadly phasing out as the older generation passes away. Anna In Ohio
My wife used to teach at South HS and she loved the kids but that area is ROUGH. She was caught in a shootout once at a stoplight at like Miller and Livingston.
When I stayed near Wedgewood, we'd hear gunfights almost if not every night. I heard a few stories about Hague, no joke over there. Not a place you want to stand around. Was waiting for you to get Parsons.
I lived in Wedgewood @ 764, then 803, then 885, I never lived any where but the Westside/Hilltop, I was a regular @ Boomer's on Sullivant and was really into the music scene Columbus offers & did a lot of photography for several metal bands & was a regular @ the Alrosa Villa & even took my daughters with me to shows cause it was cheaper than a sitter & they absolutely loved the perks of meeting not just the local bands but the headliners like STP, Crazy Town, Drowning Pool, Union Underground, Sebastian Bach and both my daughters went to school @ Eakin Elem, Wedgewood Mid & Briggs HS, From Wedgewood I moved over 1 st to Kingsford Rd & that is where I met my husband who's nickname was Twin (he's an identical twin) the Hilltop called him the white boy twin & there was a set of identical colored guys too in same hood, (who was from Marion & not on Westside long b4 we met) (03, been together 21 yrs & married 16 yrs nowthen I was @ Ogden & Broad, Eureka & Broad, & Wayne & Broad from 1990-2005 & I did a lot of driving for several dope boyz & knew crews from Southend, all over the West, the Short North & from the the D. Back then before the big Fed bust on Westside things were not like it's became in last 9-10 yrs (since 2015) & it has so many vacant homes vs occupied & the fenny is rampant bringing death to all it touches. I'm glad my sister had my girls in Tx. Her & (husband) had ability to give them a home, great friends, & ability to become whatever their dreams allowed. Me & my hubby's path came to Tx too & been here 19 yrs now, but I still miss Columbus.
This is the near west side for the most part, shouldve visited the near east side and near north/Campus area - that's where its really bad. Hilltop (where you are) has always had pockets of calm, but Sullivant is very dangerous (runs through it). Lots of commenters talking about how integrated Cbus is - historically it has always been this way, with Cbus being a major Underground Railroad town.
I grew up on north end when things were nice there. 161 was restaurant row, Morse Rd. was car dealerships and Northland mall. Forest park east and west were upscale neighborhoods. No crime, theft or murders that I can remember. Now look at the area, a sanctuary city paradise. Nothing but foreign food markets and restaurants lining Morse, Cleveland Ave. and 161. What a convenient area for a welfare office and board of elections. All that beautification money to upgrade Morse Rd. to welcome all the foreigners. Call all your relatives to come and move here, get all the free shit the Democrats offer you and you can walk across the street and vote for them. Aren't they awesome!
@@HenryLemons-be8gy the whole county Is either city or suburbs of the city which is still part of the city that's like saying parts of Brooklyn and upper Manhattan shouldn't be included in NYC
Born, raised and still live on the Hilltop and I love it here. Some bad streets, but mostly low and middle class blue collar hard worker. I'm a professional with an MBA and there are also a lot of professionals too.
Unfortunately you are right 125 feet from my house they are planning to build 6 to 8 story high rise apartments for the 88,000 people they are projecting to move here in the next 10 years. Zone In Columbus approved by City Council in June 2024. Anna In Ohio ( N Linden).
Part is the Franklinton area and the other parts the HIlltop on Columbus's west side. It goes from there and ends at Wedgewood Village which is a notorious apartment complex occupied by many Somali, some Mexican and a mix of white and Black residents.
In the 4 minute mark you went down my old street, Terrace Ave aka Terror Ave aka Terrorist Ave. Lots of murders on that first block over the last 30 years.
This is not a dating service it's a hood video, so I show a lot of the run down areas and back streets on purpose, that's the whole point of the video.
Just because people of color, & assorted other races are in an area, doesn't instantly make it a hood. I LIVE in Columbus, graduated from HS on the West, and for you to drive a few streets and call it the hood is insane. This isn't the hood. The area has it's issues, but unlike other cities, Columbus makes shit happen. Drug houses are shut down DAILY, and I do mean everyday. Zach Kline is doing wonders on shutting down problem properties, and making the others clean up. All the streets are being repaved, and the entire W. Broad St is being gentrified. There's shootings, but this is a farcry from some of the shit bag areas i've seen you drive through. As a Columbus native, i'd have to say this video is extremely inaccurate. You didn't drive on Livingston & Lockbourne....you didn't touch Cleveland Ave & 22nd...you didn't hit the Linden area...you didn't ride through Milo...The Terrace...Easthaven...lets know the hoods of columbus, before you drive it. And even then, all those sides of town aren't all that horrible besides the random teenage BS. You drove around Wedgewood, and called it the hood. They're literally just apartments, and families of Somali people majority live there, plus, CPD is ALWAYS in the complex, or at the front patrolling it. You drove around 15% of the Westside and called it the hood. Find a new job 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I graduated from Franklin Heights, 3 minutes away from where you're driving, and there's a brand new $50,000,000 High School there now. Its literally Demorest Rd 🤣🤣🤣
Man he went to the west side when it's raining 😂😂😂 he didn't go up north or south or east just the weak ass west side but that last area was the trenches go out there if you want to I put my last bottom dolla you'll end up in Sullivant gardens cemetery 😂
@SutekhDaSteemroller not being tough just speaking facts the most tough acting mfs are niggas from TX GA, CA, NY, DMV and Philly 🤣🤣🤣 I just stated a fact 💯
