Ok! So I’m not the only one thinking this. Those alleys are like their backyards. A stranger drives through “my” alley and I’m looking at them sideways. Some of those neighborhoods are being genderfied.
Columbus is just Ohio's germantown. Just actually a whole city 😂 but I'm from Columbus and have stayed northeast Philly. The hood is just the hood anywhere you go
Same. I made a wrong turn around the Philly airport and ended up in the hood. Like, the real hood with half the population loitering and wandering around seemingly to nowhere.
Columbus is a weird place. It's very much a "one block in the wrong direction" type of place. Even in the hood, you go one block the wrong way and you might find yourself in a place with million and a half dollar homes (Bexley for example). I love it here frankly.
Texas is the same way they have no zoning laws you can go and be in the hood on one block and the next block will be million dollar homes no zoning laws.
When I migrated from Africa to the US in late 2015 I lived in Columbus OH for about 3yrs, fast forward I joined the military and got stationed in San Diego CA. I’ve traveled almost all around the United States and been to lots of cities and the world at large but I’ve always regarded Columbus to be my favorite place and still is. To me if you choose quiet and calm peaceful living etc. then Columbus is highly recommended. In my opinion it’s a great place to start and build yourself up or if you’re looking to be economical and save for rainy days etc. for example compared to cities like San Diego, Los Angeles etc yes there’s a lot to do out here but average monthly rent alone is $3400 and gas is at all time whooping 5bucks do the math. I don’t see myself living anywhere else in the future but Columbus. Lots of love and respect🫡❤️
I moved here from the DMV 100yrs ago and it still cracks me up when locals here claim how dangerous some neighborhoods are here. Rundown maybe. dangerous? Not so much. I think one has to worry about the Columbus Police more than ppl in the hood.
Idk I grew up in Joyce linden area and someone getting killed everyday over there. No it might not be crippled like others places but it’s absolutely dangerous neighborhoods I’ve lost MANY friends and family to these streets and not all of them were apart of them
He’s in Franklinton and at 1:40 he turned left on west broad coming from south central ave. I lived about 3 blocks from there for 2 years and it’s not that bad. I used to walk around for hours when the weather was nice and I never felt unsafe.
I originally from Silver Springs, Maryland. I moved to Columbus Ohio 2010. I lived in Wedgwood for five years, which is one of the worst neighborhoods in Columbus then I moved to Claradon for 2 years. Now I stay around the Georgesville area. Columbus is not that dangerous if you stay out the way.
I grew up right down the road from wedgewood in apartments called weldon aquare(name changed now). i almost got jumped and lost my sneakers in wedgewood lol
Oh, please. I wish I lived in the "most dangerous" neighborhood if this is what it looks like. 😂 Come to Linden. Nothing but loud music and gunshots down here. 😬
I live in Columbus and even there so called hood is nice when you go to other major cities and compare their Hood to Columbus Columbus is a very nice place to live...
Thank You Danny Baldwin ! I've lived in Columbus 2 yrs. now and this video is not showing me nothing you won't see in any metropolitan area in the entire western hemisphere so as you were saying what is he trying to prove
I used to be a home health nurse and went into a lot of houses/apartments on the west side and in downtown Columbus for mental health patients and my main concern was the bed bugs. There were some creepy apartments but nothing ever happened to me.
It’s like anywhere. Look like you have somewhere to go, don’t answer anyone’s questions, and move fast. Stay out of side streets and stay away from downtown when the sun goes down.
EV Good... I visited Columbus sometime ago and the part I was in was very nice, very clean and nice people. I was where the national hockey team plays to see a concert. It was really nice but just like all cities I am sure Columbus has its bad areas.
@@rebeccascott8404 Columbus is nice?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Man you're on some stuff. Born and raised in Columbus since the 80's. I moved out of that fucked up state 5 years ago. Best decision of my life.
I follow the COLUMBUS POLICE DEPARTMENT 🏬 RU-vid channel and I've started to realize it's getting a lot more dangerous than it was just a few years ago. Thank you for this video 📹
@@davidgibson7615 And ninjas will push your cap back just as quick as they will in East Cleveland - Cincinnati - Dayton -Toledo - Youngstown - Akron🤷 it's the same shit all around Ohio.
@@davidgibson7615 lol I was just going to say that! I am relocating to Cleveland from Minnesota for a year for medical reasons for husband and OMG it's awful!
I once had a friend that lived in the bottoms. She invited me over and the first time I couldn't get down the street she was on because cop cars were blocking the way. The next weekend I went again and I drove past a parked cop car and the cop was screaming at whoever he arrested in the back seat. I parked my car in her driveway. I went with friends to shoot pool, came back and all 4 tires on my car were slashed, keyed up, windows busted out. I went crazy and me and another girl got into a fist fight. Before everything happened she had pulled a knife showing it off to people. I found out the hard way it was a really dangerous area and my self worth at the time was so low I didn't have enough sense to not hang out in that area. That was probably 18 years ago. Oh how time flies! And the street was Avondale
LOL lived in the Hilltop, a lot of the places he drove through aren't that dangerous just full of homeless and addicted. "Oh this alley is dirty this area must be soooo dangerous!" Please...
Lived in Cbus my whole adult life. First apartment was on Summit St. and used to take coda to the convention center where I worked while attending OSU before I got my first car. The corner mom & pop where I bought my drinks, was robbed every weekend, other than that, the neighborhood was nice. Now my daughter lives there right around the corner from Summit, on 4th.. just around the corner from where me and her dad lived when we were her age. Now I live in Dublin and she’s about to get a new place just off Sawmill Rd. in Dublin where I currently live. So weird how things change but see them the same through my kids eyes. Love this city, hail to the 614 ❤😊
Columbus has its rough spots where there are issues with gun violence where you should probably avoid at night, but it isnt as dangerous as the other major cities in Ohio like Cleveland, Cincinatti, Toledo or Akron.
If you’re going that route might as well add Dayton in there. Also, as far as crime. Thefts, break ins, etc… Canton, Ohio passes all of these cities up. Homicides, that’s a different story! Cleveland is the worst though on this list then Cinci/Columbus would be close. Even Mansfield has there hoods.
I Don't know about Cleveland or Cincinnati but it Seems like in Columbus the Bodies is Dropping and it doesn't matter Day or Night. In the past Month or so there's been Three Shootings at parks. Columbus is a Rough Spot!
@@playafly1776 There is some bad parts in Dayton, but if I was picking it would be Cleveland, then probably Columbus and then Cincinnati. Cincinnati and Columbus can both be bad depending on where you’re at.
At 1:42, that big house to the right. 1995, I stayed in the basement, rented it from the guy renting the house. I paid him 100 a month for the whole basement. Wish I could get that kind of rent today.
I grew up on the Hilltop back in the 80 and 90s. Use to go to Valleyview pool lol. Shit was alright back then. Then Broad street started getting boarded up with closed businesses. Shit started falling apart. Haven't been there in 11 years so i don't know how it is now.
Things have gotten somewhat better. I delivered newspapers, really ads mostly from Hague to Racine between Sullivant and Eakin. Its improving a bit. Lots of houses being flipped and going for $200,000 plus. The new people buying in are an improvement. I haven’t worked there but property values are going up. There’s a housing boom right now.
I’m from up north and out west lived in rosewind it was bad up there I lived out west there’s bad streets like whitethorne belvidere nashoba Colombian lechner and wedgewood in the hilltop okay in the bottoms Brehl ,central , Dana , west park avondale , Princeton and South Park is really bad I’m living there now
@Aryan white Man mistrust. A broken system. Poverty. Addiction. Police not being trained properly. A society who has less education then the suburbs around it. A society where most don't have roots to be proud. Less father figures. Many reasons. One just won't do. There are many more. It is a complex situation. We need a nation of peaceful citizens and a government that actually provides wellfair for it people. Education and health should be of the utmost importance. As individuals we need to be more tolerant and compassionate. Not just for others but ourselves. Fear and paranoia are fates worse than death. What fear and hate do to the body destroy the soul twice as fast. It's a choice between love and fear. In the long run fear will be our destruction whereas love will allow us to stand tall as we continue into the unknown.
@Aryan white Man Perhaps. I think our choice as indivuals is simple. Be kind, understanding, compassionte and love in the obly pure form which is excpression and not possessively. Love has to come from within and expressed to all senitent beings in an auto didactic manner. A simple choice to love or to live in fear. Fear is a prison and love is the only liberation to surpass it. We are limitless in our imagination. We are all stardust and an act of kindness is simply the same universal being giving to the next. We are all one. Dualism and division are ingrained into our psyche but we are all the ocean in the wave. Too many are self concious and not enough are concious of self. Once we get rid of the fear of death we stop fearing others. This is key if we ever want to ascend. The real revolution is the revoltion of the mind. Starts right now with me and you brother. I'd be a God in Nazi Germany because I look like the perfect Aryan but that's just my skin. There is something much more profound about our connection with all beings. Anger and all negative emotios are rooted in fear. Fear is the real virus of our times. Just be kind to thy niehbor and if Christian the be Christ like. If this isn't the way then you are no Christian. Religion is all seeded in some truth. Spirituality is liberation of the physical. It's an understanding that you are energy and energy can't be created nor destroyed. the action behind a blink can't be killed only the body and the lash in that blink but the action behind it is limitless.
I used to work for the Blue Jackets organization. I was a driver for several hockey players back in the day...Seth Jones, Josh Anderson, Boone Jenner etc. Beautiful city, amazing people. God I miss it!!
I'm from Atlanta GA but I've lived in Columbus Ohio for 2 1/2 years...in the "Bottoms" (Westside)...Mound St., Sullivant Ave., W Broad St....from the Bottoms to the Hilltop...
I lived on Bellows Avenue off of Sullivant until I was about 16 and moved away from drive-bys and the shootings happening all the time. Almost got killed one day and glad I moved away. I love my hood but Im not gonna be moving back anytime soon
As soon as the video start I seen he was on the west side bout to turn on central ave in the bottoms I grew up on n the westside and lived there almost my whole life.
Grew up on the westside off of hague and broad st. I don't think i would call that dangerous. I live in a suburb of baltimore now. Even the better parts of that city don't look this nice.
Yes I lived on state st by the old Caldwell market and the boys and girls club my mom and dad hanged out at red star bar my nephew live by the public pool now I was born in mount Carmel hospital I've visited there but I'll never move back there only because of the snow I love Florida weather
Columbus was my 2nd home in the late 90s all the way through the late 2000s to early 2010s…females everywhere, clubs jumpin and fun! It did begin to change once out of towners began to migrate there because Columbus was growing as a city.
I’m originally from St. Louis the most dangerous city in America but Columbus been my 2nd home cuz I moved back n fourth between the lou and Columbus cuz of my family situation. I spend most of my time in south linden on the north side when I’m in the city. Columbus safe compared to tha lou but don’t sleep on Columbus cuz u get caught lackin in the wrong spot n they don’t know u u will get exposed💯 I love the 614 mane
I live here and know alot of these places are not to bad,but if people would'nt dump $hit it would be nicer.Any place can dangerous for anyone if you act and hang around with thugs.I used to live in shepherd, was nice before the 670 took out 3 of our parks.
If this is actually Columbus’s most dangerous neighborhood, then it must be a damn nice town. I have carried mail in dozens of Indianapolis neighborhoods that are far more dangerous than this. You don’t know what a truly dangerous neighborhood looks like even at noon!
yeah columbus hoods are really not that bad. when i travel around the country i sometimes forget that other ghettos are actually dangerous compared to here. like people will actually bother you in other cities like st. louis and nyc.
Columbus way more dangerous than Indianapolis they have close too 200 murders in Columbus 🤔numbers dont lie😎 Columbus is dangerous maine u guys living under a rock
@The Underrated Savages Well the thing is a place doesn't have to look bad to be dangerous. Where I live there are at least 7 different serial killers loose. Some take girls as young as 14, others killing guys. They found over 40 bodies throughout the years. Then you cross Route 2 you're in a place that's run down and abandoned filled with hookers and homeless its a abandoned neighborhood that connects to the projects. Nobody lets their kids outside since the 80s. Very little gun violence there i think there has been 4 shootings since winter started and only one of them were in the projects. The reason being people from the projects here go downtown and sell drugs
Livingston and Parsons, Mound Street and Sullivant Ave area, West Broad Street, South High Street neighborhoods, Morse Road and the Cleveland Ave area, Cooke and Carl Road area, Hague Rd area, Northern Lights District, the Hilltop area and just the west side of Columbus in general. Seems like there is a murder on the west side every day on the news.
Within the first moments of the video -he showed the old Starling Middle School that has been empty for years, because there’s a brand new building across the street! 🙄
I noticed that they were rolling up Central towards Broad, and then hung a left on Broad. There are some neighborhood s where you shouldn't be out at night, but you don't even want to be out there during the day!
Because he's just doing this in run down neighborhoods. He doesn't explain anything because he's probably going off of "I heard that this area is bad, but I couldn't be bothered to learn or explain why". And you can see a few street signs like Central, Shoemaker, and Lexington Avenues along with Broad Street and the Franklinton sign
But it's his formula for RU-vid videos. Just driving down a bunch of random alleys in somewhat rundown areas not saying anything and putting up titles like "West Columbus: the worst hood" just to drum up controversy
My guy you didn't show anything. I can tell you're not from here. Take a trip down Livingston. Anything from Alum Creek Dr to Parsons ave on Livingston Ave(Fairwood, 22nd Kelton Lockborne. Brittany Hills, 4th and 8th Both have notorious history. Cleveland Ave from Spring st to Morse rd. Oakland park all those areas I named you need to go through not the Westside aka Zombieland
I moved here from the Bronx so this was rather nice to me!😂😂😂😂😂I used to spend summers here up til 79! Finally moved here in 93! It was way liver then!
😊What saves columbus is population growth. Every square inch in some areas are totally gentrified. Since this video was made that neighborhood on the west side has improved a bit. Once homes sell for more money, new people with better values move in.
I’ve lived on the west side for 24 years now. We’ve been looking for a house outside of the city for a little while. Columbus just keeps getting worse. Murder rates crime rates drugs prostitution all keeps climbing. Property value is down.
I did a ride along once with a officer in some of the worst zones, the 1st time was mild. The 2nd time was off the charts lol. For example a person shot in the knee and dumped out the vehicle. That was surreal. I still love it here in Cbus regardless, all cities have bad areas. Even small cities can be garbage, I know the city I grew up in is trash now. Sad but true.
Coldumpus was a decent town when I was a kid. Even the north end went to hell in the 70's. Gets worse every year. I've moved three times since the early 80's--- each time a county FURTHER AWAY. Keep the crap down there.
Some of the worst violence has been in pricey homes near Hollywood, California . The Chaplain of Bourbon Street had a lot to say about human behavior. Might find his old routines on RU-vid. Ny scariest place is Washington D.C. The most dangerous people in the world get their paychecks and insider trading there.
No commentary about what areas you were driving in, multiple trips around the same buildings. Lived in Columbus for 35 years and lived in an area you would probably consider dangerous. The people were good neighbors until the older ones started dying out and the houses ended up getting bought and rented out. That was the decline of the neighborhood.
Nice homes in these neighborhoods. Not like Cleveland and other abandoned cities. This how an American city or neighborhood should look like. Not abandoned and in decay.
I was born in Columbus, one time some body came to my door and told me that people were breaking into cars, that person still wasn't found.i live at red robin.
Campus area right there is not dangerous I live right by there that is not dangerous now North Linden and Cleveland Avenue area on the opposite side yeah that’s dangerous as hell but not this area right here not a North 4th Street Summit it’s not dangerous crime happens everywhere but it’s definitely not dangerous
Everybody dead and in jail girl what are you talking about Short North Posse,Feds swept thru there and gave the whole gang 50 to 100 years damn near look it up 4th and 8th and everyone else is dead, look it up,they cleaned it up for the Ohio State students, its still shit that goes on you just not around the shit that goes on,just say you live a nice and safe life and this video ain't going show you shit dangerous
I’ve had to do plumbing jobs in every one of these hoods. Also lived in Westside and the bottoms. Always sketchy. Depending on where you are, cops might not come.
So disappointing. I lived in Columbus, Ohio and was interested in seeing the areas identified by name or by street markers. What’s the point otherwise? There is no opportunity to orient yourself.
These are not dangerous neighborhoods. These are retirement neighborhoods. No one out there. They wouldn't dump trash like that if they thought they were in danger by going outside. They wouldn't have fencing in the yards. That takes time too. And you wouldn't do that if you weren't going to sit outside or use the yard. You can't sit outside or use the yard if you're hiding in the house in your 'dangerous neighborhood'!
It's just like Youngstown. Not perfect and not completely as bad as outsiders would think. The bad you will see is on the news or if you walking at night. If you got a car you'll be alright.
@Cassius Chatters we still bang alley gang we just spreaded on different side of town an Stratford village still across the street an our hood corner store chuccs still up
Bro the very start of this video is my hood. It’s not to bad. In fact when you get off freeway and are waiting to go left or right I live in them apartments right out your drivers window lol. I went to starling middle school which you pass by when you turn left there. I grew up hiltop and bottoms. I was one the few white boys to run around Ozie alley and lived in green brair apartments. It’s really not that bad
