I'm not a beekeeper, but I found this quite fascinating. I appreciated Mike's other videos at his apiary, and learned quite a bit about bees and the structure.
These videos are excellent . I find that although Mr. Palmer has great information , he seems always pissed off that times have changed . Like it or not that how it goes . I just started beekeeping . And I wish I did not have to worry about Varroa mites . But they are part of beekeeping here in Southern Florida . Time changes , we all have to deal with it , even Mr. Palmer .
You can hardly blame him. Cooperate greed has cut down all the trees and the pesticide use on monocrop farmland have generally pushed the biome to the brink. American bees are especially in crisis its all around you friend.
Wow! You explained why my foundation wrinkles after putting it in the hive. And I just leave it hang and it will stay straight all the way through? Thank you. I'll start looking for the thin top bar frames. Any suggestions where these are purchased? I'll have to wait till next summer (2015) to use this type of frame. I used to use the Killion technique and only got a super also. I'm going to experiment this year with the shook swarm, and other methods to find out what procedure is best for my area. I'm down in the Philadelphia area and our flows are short and intense. Thanks again.
Where dairy went wrong was building those mega farms. We never needed that, in fact the only reason they went to that is because the dairy industry is so greedy they make the farmers pay to have their own milk trucked off the farm, they did not pay crap for the milk so the ones that started going to mega dairies did it to be able to make more money. Do away with those giant farms and actually pay the small guy a fair price and those mom an pop dairies would pop up everywhere the possibly could
If the workers are here legally they have nothing to worry about. But if they are here illegally they should be rounded up and sent back. Bottom line is don't hire illegal workers in the first place, if you do it's your fault. Don't try and blame someone else!
If only life was so simply. First find some nice land that has been well cared for by people living there for thousands of years who have kept it fertile and productive for all of that time. Then kill them and their animals. Take their land. Put on your own similar but different animals and call the land yours. Sounds like a plan.

@@patricklaslett - yes, and they did exactly the same thing to the people that were there before them! That was the way the world was, and still is, to a lesser extent!
I came here to learn about Bees and instead at 08:35 I get a lecture about how the poor farmer can't profit anymore from "illegal workers" that "immigration took them away". Please, what's wrong with LEGAL workers that are also immigrants? Are you at all aware of how the "illegal workers" are treated? PLEASE stick to bees and stop promoting and endorsing illegal migrant workers that are exploited and abused. There are LEGAL ways to work in this country, how about we endorse that instead. Now, back to bees.
In the UK we have legal migration workers at the moment - although now we have less because of Brexit. It is a case here of "I don't want to do that kind of work" (picking fruit) but I don't want you (East European immigrant) here doing it and taking my job. We also have the same 'bad for bees' farming practices.
First off Mike has every right to say what he wants it is a country of free speech. More important however to the issue you brought up is the fact that just because he makes a comment about how illigal immigrants being detained is hurting the farmer. It does not mean he supports illigal immigrant workers. All it is is a statement of fact. It is not a call to this is the ideal or to this is morally right it is mearlly a statement of fact . And the facts are that no matter how much you like it or support it or don't our current farming industry in America relies on illigal immigrants as a cheap form of labor. So let's have a discussion on how to solve that. Not a smear fest on someone giving an excellent educational talk about something they are great and and passionate about He is just stating a fact. Instead of getting offended pleas tell us how would you fix the problem
