One of the better episodes. The "detective work" and suspense were above average but still had a couple of shoot-em-ups too! Thanks once again for putting these classics up so us Old Guys can relieve our childhood. My cousins and I would always recount the episodes blow by blow for each other and then play Army. These episodes aired Pre-Vietnam war when you could still have a little fun. My kids, post Vietnam didn't play Army...
One of the best episodes of an excellent series. Thanks for uploading! (Prop/costume dept. - solid A on this one with SS uniforms and ranks. A special unit like this would probably not have any "privates" though - with the language skills and being a special small unit under a "captain" = SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer, would think they were at least SS equivalents of PFCs if not higher. Same for weapons, they would probably all had some type automatic like the MP-40, maybe even some StG44s. Still hoping to see some P-38s instead of all Lugers.)
Rexicano - Chill, it’s called artistic license, makes for a good story. Sure there are a lot of ridiculous situations in many of these episodes but hey, you’re watching them, just like me, so I take it you’re enjoying them. :) I liked this one. Saunders always comes through, he never kills in cold blood, always finds a way to solve the day without needless killing, only when he has too. In all the episodes you see him respecting the enemy as men fighting just as he himself has too.
It,s Mr Spock! (Leonard Nimoy) What is the science officer from the Enterprise doing here? (incognito) Seriously, Many thanks for uploading these episodes!!! They are a lot of fun to watch and now I can see the one's I missed. Growing up My Dad always put me to bed right when Combat started.
I guess "Combat!" Might have been made before the first series of "Star Trek" starts. I think it might be his first acting role before he became "Mr Spock".
+David Black Star Trek was 1968, this episode was,I believe,1964. This was Nimoy's second appearance in Combat!. He was in an episode Season 3. "The Wounded Don't Cry".
Nice one! A- Ending could have been more climatic, still nice suspense. The name Reichardt, no doubt, chosen for the phantom baseball star of the time of the show, Rich Reichardt, who never developed into a star.
How could Saunders arrive at the house earlier than the German captain who was followed by him and arrived at the house latelier than him who couldn't know where the house was ?
The Captain was leading them on a "wild goose chase" in the wrong direction until he thought that he had lost them (Kirby only) while Saunders and the corporal had gone in the opposite direction.
Nothing but love for this series but the German helmets are piss poor. They appear to be cheap fiberglass replicas, the type bought out of the back of comic books back then by bikers. The decals are all wrong too. The rest of the equipment on this show is ok, especially the guns. I don't recall there being a shortage of real German helmets back then. We wore them playing army back in the early 60s when I was in grade school (not to mention some other "gear").
