100% right! I've said it before and I'll say it again, Kirby shows the initiative and determination to get things done when the chips are down. A good man to have in your squad under any circumstances.
After 4 seasons of fighting, I think Caje, Kirby, LittleJohn, Doc, and the Sargent need promotions and several medals for each!!! I had forgotten how good this show was!
Having watched all of the episodes in order now going back to see some of my favorites again. This one was great. Kirby finally got of his own back and boy did he change! In the later episodes he has matured and become a real mensch!
The Kirby at the end is the one we all love😇 The leader side of him didn't feel right- isn't it funny how Kirby's always arguing about order, yet when he gets the opportunity to give them, he decides he doesnt like it!
Early in the series my WWII dad called Kirby a "goofball" but in later seasons said he had turned into a "good solder" the highest compliment my Dad could give.
Kirby took a BIG chance, but under the circumstances it paid off. INITIATIVE! It can get you a Medal or it can get you Dead! Still gotta do what you gotta do and Kirby did well...
Yes this is TV show, yes, it is about WWII. Yes, in the military there’s plenty of replacement of gear; that said, I find it interesting how all the equipment that is lost is replaced. The sergeant’s Thompson, the Lt’s 45 pistol 🔫 in a prior episode. And sadly, all the ppl who were lost in battle. I do like the shows.
W.G. Kirby....one of my favs. Belly acher but when the stuff hits the fan Kirby is the"shit". Great episode, as always...writing, acting, direction...realism the whole package. Bronze star for Kirby....take it from an old ground pounder...long live liberty Sempre Fi!
I love how this whole episode everyone is hating on Kirby and his abilities as a leader then there’s Doc and Littlejon in the background like “don’t listen to them Kirby, you’re doing great” 😂😂😂
@@kathrynmcmahon4048 I was 9-13 when Combat first aired. I think maybe one reason it didn’t continue was because we were starting to get a lot of news about Vietnam that wasn’t encouraging.
It is funny for squad members to look at only Kirby of soldier when Saunders doesn't come back and communication with Lt Henry is off ,which means that a military leader has heavy burden on his shoulders.
At 14:57 it sounds like Kirby says " do you think i want these fucking guys hanging around my neck", i listened 3 times and i swear it sounds like he says that.
Ok you two can split up Kirby, McCall, the Lt. And I'll even through in the Sarge for good measure just keep your hands off that sexy frenchman (Caje)...he's all mine!!! Lol
whiskeyify - Absolutely, he has a nice smile and great eyes. (Hart throb.) But yes, this was a really good episode to close out season 4. Throughout all of season 1, 2, 3, & 4, Kirby has kind of grown on me, I like his character now then I originally did (and after watching all these episodes I guess he’s kind of sexy too
Those abandoned houses and buildings can become boobytraps. That could mean instant explosions and mortality. Scary to even think about those very chances one takes in such scenarios. Uhhh!!!
Think of the thousands that didn't, as if their lives had no value. And a few dictators that caused the eradication of hundreds of millions of our brothers and sisters in the first half of last century.
This was the very last Black and White episode. When the came back for season 5, the production went color. Personally, I preferred the Black and White episodes. Went better when they would cut to actual WWll footage. If you think you need an acting lesson, just watch this one and take notes! Thanks Jack Hogan!
Copy That, that’s why i put in requisition to bump him to Sargent, but forget Little John, I could never trust him to lead my men after that stunt he pulled to break into that German makeshift hospital when we were up to our neck in Krauts & under Heavy Fire & Little J turned queer on us in Season 3
