We all love good Combat Shooting Drills, and one of the classics is El Presidente. You know we are very big on making drills our own. This works great with El Pres. Here's a few of my favorites:
1. Standard El Pres
o (11 Seconds)- Set up with one round in chamber and five rounds in magazine with a full magazine to reload with. Stand with back to a set of three targets, pistol in holster. At buzzer turn 180 degrees, engage targets. Two shots each on all three targets then do a combat reload and re-engage targets with two shots each. All 12 shots must be hits.
2. Rifle El Pres
o (10 Seconds)- Set up with one round in chamber and five rounds in magazine with a full magazine to reload with. Stand with back to a set of three targets, either ready position. At buzzer turn 180 degrees, engage targets. Two shots each on all three targets then do a combat reload and re-engage circle on targets with two shots each. All 12 shots must be hits.
3. Rifle/Pistol El Pres
o (10 Seconds)- Start with back to targets, either ready position. At the buzzer turn 180 degrees, engage targets with two shots each on all three targets. Engage rifle safety, then transition to Pistol and re-engage the same three targets with two shots each. All 12 shots must be hits.
4. Rifle Switching Shoulders El Pres
o (9 Seconds)-Start with back to targets, either ready position. At the buzzer, turn 180 degrees. engage target with two shots each on all three targets. Then, switch to support shoulder and shoot same 3 targets with 2 shots each. All 12 shots must be hits.
5. Immediate Threat El Pres
o 9 target stands at 3/5/7m
o With the shooter's back to the targets, have helpers move the 3 targets randomly among the 9 target stands
o No peeking
o Still must make time
o All Hits
o This is NOT about Tactics. Again, it's just a fun shooting drill that makes you work "Immediate Threat" while still having fun. Teaching to engage immediate threat first.
I hope you all enjoy "El Pres from Hell" as much as we do.
Strength & Honor, TR.

Not going to lie, my first run with both were slow 11.7 pistol, 10.5 rifle. After that first run (or after sweating out my Friday night) keeping it clean, along with Minute of heart... Times are pretty consistent 9.5 seconds with pistol, 7.8 with Rifle. Barely made it with a 10.9 on rifle/pistol first go, but brought that down to 10 flat. It's only about Hell degrees out here after a couple inches of rain. Going to come out this evening and give her another go. Hoping to shave a full second off of everything. And will try out the "peek-a-boo el pres" Appreciate y'all as always! 💯 GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 ALPHA MIKE FOXTROT 👋

Ever try the Triple Nickel? 5 targets at 5 meters, 1 round in the chamber, 7 in the mag and a spare mag. Draw, engage 4 targets with 2 shots each, reload, engage last target with 2 rounds. 5 second par time. You have to do it 3 times in a row to pass, which is the "triple" part of the Triple Nickel. Great drills, BTW. If I need to carry a rifle, I'm not leaving my pistol behind...

@jackbrooks6451
@jackbrooks6451 3 года назад
@@silvermediastudio Ummm, okay, 1 El Pres is 12 bucks, so what's your point? Unfortunately, practice is expensive. no news there. I've got a .22 adapter that fits my G17 and G22 and one that fits my AR so that cuts my cost quite a bit. There are ways to practice without blowing your budget including various trainers. Adapt, improvise, overcome. The idea behind trying different things is to challenge yourself and keep an open mind. I get that shooting right now costs money, but it doesn't matter what your practice routine is, as long as you practice. Not disagreeing with you at all. Yeah, it hurts to pull the trigger on my precision rifle. THAT'S like $3-$5 a shot, but I still practice, although not as much as I'd like. Just depends on what your priorities are. YMMV. One thing that's been conclusively proven, smaller, more frequent practice sessions are more effective than longer practice sessions farther apart. If you can afford to shoot one box of ammo a week, it's better to do it once a week than to wait a month and shoot 4 boxes of ammo in one session. Just make sure you're getting as much as you can out of that box of ammo. Same same if you can only afford 10 rounds a week. It's not just practice that makes perfect, it's *practicing perfectly*. Practice perfection and you will approach perfection, even if it's only a little at a time.

One of the big things that helps from your videos, and can really only be learned in person or from a video, is your approach to muzzle discipline and safe weapons handling on dynamic range (vs the very structured ranges that most of us are used to). Great video! Another variation is to have a partner load your mags for you, so you don't know how many rounds you have in the gun to start with. Still have 12 rounds total, but uneven amounts between the two mags so you have to do a mag change when you don't expect it. Lots of fun screwing with your range buddies. You can even load dummy rounds so you have to clear a malfunction. Tons of ways to have fun with this drill.

@TacticalRifleman
@TacticalRifleman 3 года назад
Colors should not matter; same as sex, religion, race. Rather, you can get "hands" from Action Target that you can staple to the targets. Some are non-threat, like empty hands or cell phones. Others signify "Threats" that warrant deadly force, like pistols, knives, or other weapons. That would be a better test of target discrimination.

I think to many of us have been shooting steal and paper so much we don't actually know how the body of our attacker will move once they have been hit. I do a version of the El Prez at my indoor range too - Luckily they let me turn ,draw and rapid fire there as some places don’t - I just have to use smaller targets and place them closer together - or if there’s some free stalls I’ll take over a few and target them up as long as I can get a clean angle to the backstop in all directions - probably still one of the best all round drills skills out there IMO

Can you focus on the footwork, we've seen a lot of drill without foot work, CQB, Long range shooting, contact right, left, back and forward etc.
