We run hewholland cx 860 can’t beat the straw and has less loss that’s claas 670 and JD T670 new holland builds the best combine. Although it all comes down to operator and operation. Rotary generally givers speeds, also takes more horsepower so burn more fuel. Since rotor has to push out straw vs straw walkers take straw out. If want to sell straw anyone will bail your straw but conventional get a premium since quality is up
I've been running rotary combines for decades but I've never been around a straw walker. New Holland twin rotor is the best rotary combine around. What's better than 1? 2!
Rotary combines have a poor efficiency with flax harvesting. I think its because the straw is so tough, and the rotar ends up working the straw the whole length of the rotar. But may be those flax balls just need the friction of a conventional thrashing system to break apart their "shells"
Interesting topic we have CaseIH redtop 8010, we had run MF straw walkers both with Aussie secondary box that collected small seeds as sample was very important in Australian market. Time is money so when looking at combine it’s not tonnes per hr, clean sample but clean down, maintenance n amount of moving parts. I admitted that twin rotors like NH n JD X9 are fast at harvesting, Claas Hybrid design for 2 stage cleaning output which can adjust better sample in changing conditions but CaseIH n similar Gleaner is simple design with lest parts, lighter especially in wet year like here which makes worth long time investment.
