If you flick open the fibers with the card or comb you can then just spin from the fold directly for a quality yarn. You can go the extra step to use the comb to open the fibers further quickly with one comb holding the fiber in your hand. Attach the opened fibers to the comb and then draft off the fibers into a roving ready for spinning. You can do another step by adding multiple locks to the comb and use the other comb to then finish opening the fibers and removing the short bits and debris. Then draft off the fiber from the comb into a roving. There are many ways but combing long staple fibers is the easiest and best way to prep the fiber for spinning. Flicking is quick if you so choose and remember flicking or carding won't get all the debris out but combing will get not only most of that but also the short fibers you can use for other projects.
