Do you only test combustion on furnaces? Focusing solely on furnaces can leave a home in danger as well as leave a service unknown. Give homeowners the option to have their gas appliances inspected for leaks. Especially if they know the dangers of CO poisoning, they may be very interested. If it's not offered though, then there's no opportunity.

Everyone says the hot water heater is he biggest problem in the home yet, I couldn't find any videos that showed an in depth proper testing of the appliance. I just returned the Fieldpiece analyzer that I had just purchased for the Sauermann Si-CA 130 with NO sensor (California). I love FP gauges but it was lacking some significant features that Si-CA 130 has. Thank You Jim

Now I noticed a 3” vent that should be a 4” and the drafthood auger out to a 4” leaving the spill plate left intact.

That hood can be used for 3 or 4”.

Your sounding more like a utility worker. Who provides the gas and responsible for the combustion of there gas. There should be a 5 minute time to establish draft they will all spill until the flue draft overcomes barometric pressure of the stagnant air in the flue.

Appliance do not alway spill, and they typically do not. Agreed they can for up to 5 minutes with a cold chimney, but with a hot water tank we are always dumping hot air into the stack from the water if not from the flame. More then trying to sound like a utility worker, I am trying to sound like someone that actually gives a shit and will take concern for the safety of myself and my customers as well as to look for opportunity outside of what I am there to do.
