Steve, I hear you with teenagers. A few years ago we adopted two young boys through foster care with real emotional problems. People always wonder how we are doing with them. My answer lately is they are the least of my worries....I have 3 teenage boys that each have their own load that takes a ton of mental and emotional energy to handle. Good luck. My favorite thought is that they are Heavenly Father's son's, too and He will guide me to take care of them. So grateful for a foundation of truth!

Steady! I know many in the world are hurting and sick. This is the time we need to be steady in the service of our God. We all need to know how much God loves us. It is so comforting to know he is there when we can’t go any further alone. He has blessed my life and he will bless anyone who prays to him. Years ago I was an early morning seminary teacher and I did the rameumpton thing for the opening prayer. The inspiration for it came in the early hours on the day I was teaching it, so I didn’t have time to ask a student. I did manage to talk to our class president privately before class and get her call on me to give the opening prayer. At that particular time the stake pres. had suggested we kneel by our desks for the prayers, so as the class knelt I climbed up on a chair and started reciting the ‘prayer’. It was a moment forever etched in my brain...I remember one student who was sitting in front just tipped over and said “Blasphemer”! It was priceless!

I had a friend years ago that had four boys. She told me to remember that you cannot grow brains and bodies at the same time so just be aware. That came in handy when my son was a teenager. I told him that when he would get up in the morning and see all that drool on his pillow that it wasn’t really drool. Really his brain had liquified during the night and had poured out of his ear onto his pillow. Steady!

We were sent to a catholic boarding school in Kwa Zula Natal, South Africa and the priest there was German, Fr Adrian (heavy german accent so we had to pay close attention in ord to try and understand him right?). Anyhoo, there was something he said that has stuck with me for the last 36 years. He said: "There was a man who went to church, RELIGIOUSLY!, every Sunday... But still went to hell for what he did every Monday" Never in my life did I ever think or dream that I would be anything other than a Catholic for the rest of my days, but hey, Heavenly Father certainly has a way of preparing one to be able to understand these kinds of lessons in life to understand what they truly mean. I became a member of the Lord's Church 4 years ago, and when I read the story of the Zoramites in Amonihah, it made total sense to me. Some people still do that today. They think that by going to church for 1 hour a week and repeat the same prayers week in and week out is enough, and once they leave the building, they leave their "christianity" at the door. Sad but true. PS! We were taught by German nuns, so nothing scares me now 😝🤣

In the trials of life, “steady” is where I try the hardest because I just want to make it to the finish line. Reminds me of a talk.....After being taunted repeatedly for being slow, the Tortoise challenged the Hare to a race. As the race began, the two started off together. However, the Hare ran rapidly towards the goal and, seeing that he could easily win, lay down and fell asleep a short distance in front of the finish line. The Tortoise maintained a slow but steady and consistent pace toward the finish line.
