having a hard day , went down the rabbit hole because of a NY Times article, and it led me to this. It was impossible not to smile and immediately feel better. Their joy was transmitted to me. Thank you.
Don't worry guys...you can do the lyrics anyway you want..most of us who loved it in the U.S. only understood about 30 percent of them anyway..in 1983!! :)
A little pitchy here and there but nothing awful. Kind of hard not to be with a decent sized group like that. Maybe they should have moved it up a step or two for the lead so it could be in his range a little bit more. I still enjoyed it though.
How dare they disgrace this masterpiece by putting a guy up there who doesn’t have the range to sing the song. He couldn’t hit that “Rye AAAA” octave if he sucked down a helium balloon.
If you ever become a composer for a top university acapella group you’ll get to decide what fits your group and each song best. For now, your opinion means nothing
Lead is ok, nice legato, but it's a shame they took it down so many steps. I know the original is hard to match, C5 isn't an easy note for any male singer. Need to work on that bridge and mixing though if you're going to match the original imo, but that's just what I want out of a cover. I expect it to ascend and so am disappointed when it doesn't or stops far short(F#4 in this case, which just doesn't have that same "energy" to it).
