Lately I've been binging ren faire vlogs, and this one was fantastic! I love seeing people get into fiber arts! (my family has a small sheep farm) I actually just finished spinning several skeins (I pronounce it Skayn) on a spinning wheel. I'd recommend Marino (the breed of sheep) fiber as an all over good beginner fiber, it can also be dyed if you buy white or a light color! There's so much to explore if you get into fiber!
I'm working at Great Lakes Medieval Faire this summer for the first time and they're slowly adding a lot of things that they had pre-covid so we need as many people that can come, to come!
Loved this, I'm in the UK and although there are 'faerie fayres' and others similar, theres nothing like an American Ren fair here at all. I love watching videos of people going and doing activities, shopping and eating all the stuff! I like the little GRWM beforehand too :)
I went to the medieval fayre at Glastonbury Abbey last month and it's definitely so different from how the American ones seem, gotta live vicariously through youtube for those
Very beautiful video as always! I always love watching Renfaire vlogs because they don't really exist in Germany, and the one you went to looks so fun! The dragon puppet at 3:30! She is gorgeous! And the drop spindles! Oh my goodness, it's all so cool and everyone looks fantastic!
Your ren faire vlogs are such a delight to watch. They really capture what it feels like to attend one! I've been binging ren faire vlogs recently to prepare for my local one (Bristol, WI) to open in a little under 2 months, and came across your channel from that. Was so excited to see you just uploaded another 😊 Your vlogs inspire me to start vlogging again and especially to vlog at ren faires! Also love the elf look! 💚🧝♀
Not a ren faire, but for fiber arts demos/workshops in a festival environment, you should come out to Maryland's sheep & wool festival (spring; alas this year's just passed) or the fall alpaca festival. Not to be missed: the alpaca obstacle course competition (fall), the sheep-to-shawl competition (spring), and nearly spherically fluffy rabbits (both)
Lovely to see you two at the Faire in LA. I remember when it was in Agoura CA... I learned to spin wool there! May you enjoy many decades of spinning! My hands no longer let me spin so I buy my spun wool and angora yarns from a local crafter who has her own sheep and goats and teaches fiber arts at faire... she can be found at the Oregon Renaissance Faire in Canby OR in June, Canterbury Renaisance Faire in Silverton OR in July, and the Washington Midsummers Renaissance Faire in Bonney Lake WA in August... I used to work those faires but now have become a playtron rather then a player.
Hi I know this vid was from a year ago but I hope you read this: I was happy to see you feature and compare my local renfaire with others but I just want to mention that LA is not actually a desert (as you mentioned) LA has a chaparral Mediterranean climate, calling it a desert is misinformation and impacts our local ecology because this common misconception has caused landscapers to treat it as one. Our native trees are oaks and sycamores, not palm trees and while we do have dry hot summers, we also are supposed to have cool wet winters (we just happen to be coming out of a very long drought). Anyway, I don’t want to come off as a nitpicker I just want to help educate!
I liked the voiceover , very informative , but you really need to do a comical one with a Cinderella voice of any other character , it would be so funny .
SoCal is one of my favorites! I grew up going to that one! I believe Texas also has some craft classes too. Though last time I went, I mainly focused on drinking. Parking at faires is really dependent on States. For tye So Cal one it's actually on State Park you have to pay for Parking there any time of the year.
I would HIGHLY recomend going to TRF in Texas if you guys can! It's in the fall every weekend in October and November and I'll be working there this year! I've been a professional henna artist for years and have done henna at the ren faire a few time but this time ill actually be there all season. It'll be cool to see you if you decide to stop by and get a henna!
Washington mid summer renaissance faire is .y favorite faire cause you can camp at it over the weekend. Its the first three weekends in August. Its hot as he'll but really cool! I love the atmosphere of it. 2024 will be their second year at the new property so it's still settlement in but the cast and crew are incredible!! Highly recommend 😊
Last year was my first time vending at the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, NY and I loved it so much! I'm purchasing my booth so I will be there year after year! Love watching these vlogs and seeing what other faires have - definitely love that DIY station!
Loved seeing you learn how to use the drop spindle. I remember going to an agricultural show as a teen and a lady there was carding & spinning wool only she was using a spinning wheel. She did let me card the wool some but I wasn't able to stay long enough to learn how to use the spinning wheel which is kind of a shame. 🧚♀
the LA ren faire looked like a lot of fun and it's soooo cool that they have a DIY craft area where you can learn something new! if you ever make it to texas, i highly suggest the Texas Ren Fest nearish to houston from beginning of october thru thanksgiving weekend and/or Sherwood Forest Faire near to austin from beginning of march to later part of april.
one of these days i'll get back to going to ren faires and medieval faires... plan is to have some chain mail done up.. takes a while to do it by hand.. even using some majik "power drill" to help make all the links, assembly is still slow... also need to redo my wand as well, though my staff is still intact.. it is built Atlantian style, basically a copper rod wrapped in leather with a quartz crystal topper...
That looked like a fun faire. I just went last weekend to the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival in Muskogee, and it was quite nice. Definitely one I've been recommending people to hit up if they can. Now I'm just waiting for the little one near me this fall, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It's still pretty new (just started in 2019), but I like supporting cool events when I can, since this state gets passed over for a lot of things I would be interested in.
One of my favorite things to do for Ren Faire is camping. Never met a more social community. I would like to find a ren fair that has a little more shade though, my local one that has space for camping is in the middle of a giant field with no shade at all.
Hi!!!!!! I thought I saw you but wasn’t 100% sure. I was at the crystal/knife shop. Got me some murder mittens. The Queens Collage is so much fun! I did the needle felting and slightly intoxicated candle dipping.
Since you've been to Maryland's Renn Faire, you might want to check out Virginia's! This weekend is opening weekend and it goes until mid-June! It's out by Lake Anna and it's a nice cooler weather Faire. Bonus points for the ticket only costing $15!
Probably not worth your time but it'd be awesome if you travelled to a few Canadian renfairs! I'm going to my first one next month and cant wait! They seem to be smaller and less popular than the States, but we'll see.
i have a replica of queenie's wand from fbawtft that i bought from a small business bc i thought it was SO pretty but also didn't want to give $$ to jkr and now i use the wand for all kinds of little fantasy outfits whenever i think the outfit needs a wand (which is always XD) i haven't been to many renfaires - i went to my first one last year and i can't wait to go again in september!!
Do you just go to renamed faire's for the shopping and food? I noticed you did not mention any of the performers that are making shows and music to entertain and bring the renamed faire "to life". I did see some fantastic street performers as you panned around, but you did not mention anything about entertainment. I fell in love with faire at the Pleasure Faire in 1978, when I was 14. I now have been performing in Florida faire's for 45 years. Our vendors and craftsmen are amazing, but the performers are the very heart of any Faire.
Texas Ren Fest is the nation's largest, that might be fun to see! It'd be nice to have you review and compare it to the others you've been to since I don't have any other experience.
Thanks for posting this! It helped us make the decision to attend the Faire for its last weekend this year. My family had a great time, despite the poorly designed layout of the Faire. We're considering the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Have you been to it?
Have you been the renfaire in NY? It's the only one I've ever been to but it was fun! I liked your outfit for this one and I think I recently watched your other renfaire vids back to back and it's making me want to go back. Do you know if the earring shop has an online shop? They look so cool.
I've always loved the Maryland ren faire. Been going to MA faire for years too. How are size and shows in comparison? I've picked up leather working because of my love of ren faires.
What city was the ren faire in or near just wondering cause i am in the la area no clue where the faire is great outfits loving the elf ears and yes the silver jewelry looks better than gold my opinion 😊
Can someone please explain to me what the point of Renfairs are? and what you do at them? and why people love them so much? I’m trying to figure this all out so any help would be appreciated!
Search for “Jess of the Shire renaissance fair” she does a very good job explaining the history and culture of ren fairs. For me, I just like being outside with a bunch of fun, creative people doing fun, creative things. Also, food, drinks, and jousting rules.
