@@RadRogue1 The true part is the inhumane use of straight jackets. Yes, that inspired the filmmakers to make the story. I’m talking about the actual story being fiction. Time travel via morgue drawer doesn’t happen.
Adrian Brody is the ideal pinnacle of a true actor. He hit an Oscar in the Pianist and now, all he wants to do is have fun. Doesn't matter if the film is bad or good, he just wants some kickass fun in his career and that's really all that matters.
Lmao what, this is a wes anderson commercial who uses the same rotating cast of actors known as the “wes anderson universe”. Adrian is part of that, and anderson wrote the commercial, brody didnt just get to pick this part. This was a carefully written big budget piece that ONLY big actors will lead, his other commercial brad pitt starred in
I think it was more of a commentary on the likes of Swiss Miss and Cool Whip which are neither technically hot chocolate or whipped cream. But it would be wonderful if it was intended to be poetic :-)
Things that are absolutely guaranteed in a Wes Anderson film: a compelling story, stunning visuals, a cast of quirky characters, and a kick-ass soundtrack. Only he could take an advertisement and use his signature style to craft it into something unique and interesting. I love this!
I really hate H&M, but this is one of the best holiday ads I have ever seen. It’s sophisticated, yet playful and eye-popping. The color-grading and mis-en-scene are spot-on, just like any other Wes Anderson creation, and the soundtrack brings me so much nostalgia. The only thing that would have made this ad better was if it was for another more mature and ethical clothing brand like J. Crew or something. Worth watching in the middle of July.
@@dindamw1 Fast fashion aside, they are really good at pretending to care about its consumers and the environment. That "recyclable" tag they have is one example of how they fool people
Those small details are notable because they tell us a lot. The peeling off of the calendar tells us the day, but the snow suggests the month, and the "not now" line raises tension, telling us an emergency has arisen. They seem like quirks, but they're pieces of the story puzzle, interconnected to everything, setting it all in motion.
Watching in June and getting choked up. Wes Anderson is the perfect choice for Christmas celebration. Every one of his films has at its heart the capacity for kindness, love and compassion in the midst of adversity, bleakness, human flaws.
I had to analyse this advertisement for an university seminar and I watched the video about a 100 times. I still love everything about this beautiful work of Wes Anderson
it really shows Wes anderson's love of train travel, the Font of the coach on the Opening shot was used by a railroad called the Burington route in the 1930's, the weird yet similar design of the coach itself, and the fact it feels like it's from the 50's,
wes is amazing. his films are story books turned real life. get it? no? well, he's something. Adrien is also such an incredible actor, and so handsome. ugh.
I love this commercial! There is just something magical to it from the way he grabs the tree and craft supplies while the train is speeding, to the symmetry of the shots. Shows the magic of Christmas and gets me choked up every time
Kubrick’s compositions, Godard’s dolly shots, and a nostalgia for old school Hollywood, particularly musicals and Wes comes out. More so then visuals, his writing and wit is his major contribution to movies. Nearly everything is Wes Anderson humor now and has been since Rushmore.
@mainmanmainlining7575 it's not a matter of you telling the truth or not. It is you being factually incorrect. You not knowing how to support your argument makes me more certain you are an idiot more than your lack of cinematic history.
honestly h&m stresses me out but if they had wes anderson and adrien brody offering me a complementary christmas brunch i would shop there 100% well done
This is such a great commercial! I love the camera work in this! Without even looking at the credits, you can tell it was directed by Wes Anderson because of those angles and pans. It's like something out of his movie DarjeeIing Limited. Since Wes Anderson made two movies with animal characters that was done in the Wind in the Willows style, I would love to see Wes Anderson make a movie that's done in the Thomas the Tank Engine model style; that would be great, and the lack of moving mouths on the characters wouldn't bother me a bit.
@@kristopherryanwatson funny how h&m had money to pay user Kristopher Ryan to defend a corporate AND a Wes Anderson's xmas campaign but failed to fairly pay wages to their workers 👀
Christmas time has arrived, so here I am! One of the most beautiful ads of recent years. Merry Christmas to everyone, although this coronavirus will make the holidays different to everyone.
I rather have him directing very unique and stilized commercials than selling him to a big studio with no creative control. I mean, he has to pay the bills.
That train! That train! Uh! Although it is not a 1:1, that end scene can almost certainly only be modelled after the Cedar Rapids cart of the Skytop Lounge fleet. Amazing short film.
Wes Anderson is clearly impressed by the atmosphere of Eastern European movies from the socialist times but packing this atmosphere in bubblegum doesn't work for me.
