Congrats to you. I know the angels are rejoicing. You taking that step along with your Mother is an amazing step forward to connecting with Jesus. When I was baptized my life didn’t change immediately but I was tested in many ways and my life changed for the better. It took time to leave my old ways but once I for sure turned my life around was knowing I was baptized and continued to be disobedient. I began to understand baptism doesn’t wash away my troubles but it gives me a safety with Jesus and an understanding that Jesus is with me through it all. It’s a big decision to choose Christ but I promise you it’s like working out. The more consistent you are you began to make the process the norm. I lived a life that I thought was fulfilling and lost a lot of friends. However, I received blessings and covering of peace by being obedient. May God continue to bless you. You continue serving him and watch him move in miraculous ways.
