Step back in time to a period when dancing was commonly done, an expected social skill, a way of connecting in an atmosphere of beauty and music. At San Francisco's Great Dickens Christmas Fair at the Cow Palace, you can enter the world of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol and revel in a Victorian London where it's always Christmas Eve and the streets resound with celebrations of the Season! Join me in getting dressed for Mr. Fezziwig's Dance Party, learning why Mr. Fezziwig is more relevant than ever, dancing at the party, and getting a brief overview of many of the Fair's activities.

Thank you for your wonderful 'ad' for our show! We were back again this last Holiday season, and look forward to the Holiday season of 2023! (Did I happen to see you come through our new 'gate' this year? Or perhaps I punched your Pickwick Pass? :) ) Mark your calendars now! And don't forget to purchase your tickets in advance online! I hope everyone has a wonderful year, and I look forward to seeing everyone coming through the ticket gate this winter!

I really do miss those get together and historical dances. In my hometown before the pandemic I was part of this historical dance group that would meet every first Saturday in Old Town and we actually would do the sir Roger de coverley dance and I can tell you the energy was strong and fun. These pictures would join in and it was quite amazing to see the look on their faces to see that this was the entertainment that victorians had back then both in America and in Europe.

I've been taking dance classes with the Peers group now for a few months and have enjoyed the experience immensely. I really love the english country dances as well as the correographed group waltzs' like Congress of Vienna. Currently obsessed with the regency era and the dances associated with those balls. Thank you again for sharing. I loved seeing the hoop skirt as I was really wondering how to get that shape. if you could share where you found yours, I would really appreciate that.

I no longer remember where I bought mine but would recommend Lacis in Berkeley.

We had so much fun dancing last night at the Faire. It reminded me of the Gaskill Ball we used to attend years ago. Is there anywhere hosting dancing like this outside the fair these days?

The 2022 Great Dickens Fair has had huge crowds.. lots of built up energy. About 1/15 person wearing masks... help protect against Cholera (that was sweeping London in the 1840's). Many of the public dress up in semi-accurate attire and their energy was quite high. I bow to young (age 7 to 10) wearing princess consumes. Public is getting into the spirit and quite attentive. The weekend of Dec 11th was sold out and I heard Dec 17 and 18th also sold out. With a "boycott" there are less "actors" and no Doc Ladies "applying their trade" and no window animatronics (steam powered no doubt) of ladies in state of undress. No queen, no soldiers, a few "pellers", Fezziwig members are few... so many person under 35 are missing. No "R" show in the Victorian and Albert theater.. the ladies are not present in sufficient numbers. The event (I'm an unpaid actor there in 2022) seams to be a huge success. There was lots of sexual harassment training and I read the LoAD's list of grievances. Some have been addressed and they have valid points but I think the Fair would fail if all the points were enforced. I've attended the fair since 1980's but 1st year "behind the curtain" so I was not evolved in the issues in 2019. There was no fair in 2020 and only an drive though in 2021. Lets hope that 2023 and 2024 keep improving.

Where can I purchase black Dapper Steampunk Dickens Trousers before the Dickens Christmas Fair? I did look on Ebay and I would have to wait for a shipment from China. Is there any place local?
