I don’t understand anyone cutting off their family unless it’s acute abuse or toxicity. I have lost all my family and would give anything to have them back. Were they perfect? Goodness no! But until your without them you don’t realize. You think they’ll always be there and they won’t be. Embrace them now before you have to spend holidays almost totally alone or around someone else’s family. Thank goodness for the hope of heaven.
One of my sons stopped talking to me when his father died. He has a red headed son who is 10 years old!! I haven't seen him for almost 5; years. My heart hurts so much...
I share Chonda's pain when it comes to relationships with your kids. Mine are severely strained as well. I hope and pray for a breakthrough, and I pray the same for Chonda. This was an excellent interview.
Chonda, your story gives me hope. My daughter hasn't spoken to me for 20 years. She doesn't want any contact with me. She got married and now has a boy and a girl. I don't know my son-in-law nor my grandchildren. I admit I made a lot of bad choices when she was little and I own a lot of the blame. I've apologized to her and asked her for forgiveness. But yet, not yet. More importantly than my having a relationship with them is that they would come to know our Lord and have relationships with Him. I had the pleasure of meeting Chonda in California years ago at a venue that no one really knew her. It wasn’t a Christian event. They introduced her as a “Country Comedian”. As one of her biggest fans, with all of her DVD’s, it was such a blessing. I share so much of her experiences. Those hours with her are among my most memorable moments. I’m not a person who is a “fan” of famous people. But her? I was so honored to have a moment where others weren’t interested and I was gifted time with her. Love you dearly, Chonda. Wow. It was not by accident that i saw this video today in July. My son has not anything to do with me for 7 years. I have bn codependant in a relationship for 10 years with a man who refuses to marry again. I hv heard myself say "i should've" so many times.the Holy Spirit is touching is my heart right now. Friend’s didn’t understand, but I lived a good life with an Italian father & German mother. All 3 of us girls went to Bethany Nazarene college/Southern. God definitely keeps his arms of love around us for protection. We need it in today’s activities: )
Girl, you have walked my path. Thanks for being so open. Being a Christian can really shut a person into an "image" prison. Saved 46 years and 25 years of AlAnon recovery and 20 years in therapy. It works if you work it. I crawled out of he'll into the light. God Bless you.
Chonda, you are awesome! Your humor and truths have helped me through some rough times. Years ago God introduced me to you on Facebook. It was a video on the depression in your life. I was in awe of you, your talent, the fact that you are a Christian comedian and that you know the struggles of depression. There have been many hard nights that I have watched your shows and was able to make it to the next day. I admire you greatly. I always wanted to be a comedian but it wasn’t until God introduced you to me through Facebook that I discovered a Christian can have an awesome, positive, funny impact in the darkness of this messed up World. I got to go to see you in Belleville Il. in the mess of Covid but I never got to talk to you because of the Covid restrictions. I saved my ticket for eighteen months so I could be at your show. I am soooo glad I went. I appreciate you Chonda!

Our daughter with 6 grandkids hasn’t been in contact with us for 6 months. She told me why up front and just needed her space. But the longer it goes on the more I worry this will be for good. I try to not think about and focus on what God has given to me right now. I feel for you. I know I cannot wrap my head around the length of time you have endured this. So glad for you that you got to finally meet your grands. God will continue to strengthen you. He is soooo faithful. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Listening to your story about Branches I was thinking, "When God wants us to receive a message, sometimes he hits us over the head with a sledgehammer." It's nice when He does send us clear messages. Every time I wanted to quit teaching, or even move out of state, He sent me clear messages that I was right where He wanted me to be. I understand losing a husband and two siblings. I was able to retire last year, but haven't figured out what God wants me to do next. I remarried 8 years ago. I pray that this time around God will let me be the one to die first. I never thought I would get into a second marriage, but God had other plans. I was widowed 17 years before I remarried.
❤you are not alone. I have the same experience. My first son did the same thing. It has been 15 years. I feel the same way. What did I do? I am like you, I need to say things out loud. Then I can deal with it. Hugs and prayers.
I went to the same college in Nashville (Trevecca Nazarene University) that Chonda did but I think I was a year ahead of her. I have enjoyed watching her videos over the years. She is so resilient.
Chonda, you and I are the same age, and I'm dealing with the same behavior with my 32 year old daughter. We sent her off to college, and four years later, we got back a girl filled with bitterness and anger and easily offended about everything. She hasn't talked to us in years. Other than fighting for her on our knees, how else do we fight with a demon?
We got to see our grandkids on July 4th finally after 11 months of our child being mad at us. We are grateful ☺️ I also have a mean father … retired preacher. Where do they get off thinking it’s okay to be abusive?
I have experienced not seeing my 3 grand children too! Everything you said about not seeing your grand children for 14 years, Chonda, reminds me of my situation ! I felt like I was living in the twilight zone and did, said, thought etc etc the exact same things you have been through. Ohh Chanda, my heart breaks for you, I took know the pain of estrangement, I'm 66 and my 3 grown children aren't in my life, 2 are addicts, my oldest one told me 7-8 years ago that I chose God over him, I still have no clue what that means, I have a bunch of health issues and could use some help but it's not to be, I too have grandkids that's been kept from me, as you know, only Jesus keeps us together, you're in my prayers 💕🙏🏼✝️📖

Many speak to me about the lack of connection of our kids saying that the online world is a superficial mock universe which the enemy has used to steal the hearts and souls from intimate, deep relationships. I can wholeheartedly state each of these has an online sm presence.
I know how Chonda Pierce feels. I don't hardly get to get to see my 3 grandkids. It does hurt. But one day my oldest may regret what he's done to me about the kids. They make me feel like they're ashamed of me cause I'm disabled and poor. But I know the Lord Jesus accepts me no matter what.
I have had dreams (visions) that people can't explain except for the fact that I had these in 2001, right before 9/11, it happens, and then the weirdest dream i ever had occurred. The only thing is , the Twilight zone began years later! This is so scary!
Gen X and Z do seem to have a warped attitude towards their parents. I’ve experienced issues with my daughters and one of my nieces has completely divorced our family. I’ve known so many people who have difficult relationships with their children. I don’t understand it.
And I don’t think it’s all…We’re Gen Z with four Gen Z kids. Two are married. We’re so grateful for our darling in-law kids! All our kids seem to have really great friends, and now spouses. Every young person we know is still close with their parents and siblings. Hope is never lost!

I am going through a really tough time, because my daughter also has decided she didn't want anything to do with me. It's been one the hardest things. It's so hard. I promised my dad I would take care of my mom and I did for 10 years then I came home and found her dead Then someone who I trusted and talked to everyday turned out to be a narcissist. I didn't know anything about what this was. He took my job away and now I will be homeless. Worst thing is he's famous. I've even video chatted with him and he says he doesn't do that.
My daughter withholds my grandchildren from me too and it's the worst thing a child can do. They don't care that they are hurting the children even more. I have never shown my grandchildren anything but love and I even supported her financially when her drug addict husband wouldn't work but she did. I gave her more than 35,000 over the years. Then my dishonest sister stole the inheritance that we discussed because we knew what a liar and thief our mother was and she was likely to leave everything to one child out of cruelty. We all made a vow that we would all split it evenly evenly no matter what. Well the thief already had my money sign the house over to her alone and she posted it on Facebook. That's how we found out. She never apologized or made things right and we all despise her. My daughter sided with her. She didn't see it unfair because Dinah is the only one who would support my mother and her lies because she is the image of my mother. My heart breaks everyday. God bless you and I will pray that both our daughters will come back before we die.
I think G-d gives you a situation in your life in order for you to use it to help others. Your situation with your daughter may help other's with their own healing. Keep talking about it.

I'm so sorry for everything you have gone through. God has gotten you through and always will, in Jesus's Name Amen ✝️ Just a suggestion- never assume that someone very young, like 21 or 18 or younger, doesn't know about severe pain. I was a widow young. Right now I'm 49. But, none of us knows what anyone has been through. If someone is loving and comforting you, especially through pain, never turn them away. Even if some things they may say don't make sense, the love does ❤ 🧎♀️ ✝️
My daughter lives 1 mile from me and doesn't see me. She will come to my duplex to see my son and grandchildren and never speak to me. Maybe one day? Only God knows.
Your daughter had a alcoholic father and quite possibly a mother who is an alcoholic. Alcohol is devastating in relationships. Maybe her daughter is trying to keep her kids from the craziness alcohol brings in relationships. You made your daughter look bad - publicly. That probably raised the wall that much higher. Maybe she is protecting her children from the pain. She may be a terrible daughter like your presented her. She may be a very nice woman that doesn’t want the “noise” in her kids life. We don’t know what the real story is because we weren’t there. I am hearing that you want to reconcile with her. Publicly making her look horrible seems to be a foolish way to do that. You say that this helps others so it is good to tell your story. If you want a relationship with your daughter and grand kids then do what helps build the relationship instead of calling her out publicly. Some things the public don’t need to know if it cost you a relationship being mended.
