Absolute legend, Mel Brooks! "Young Frankenstein" is my favourite of his movies, too. That whole "Puttin' on the Ritz" bit damn near kills me every time I watch it.
"It's good to be the king" Absolute legend ❤👏👏👏..Soo many classics e.g. The Producers, Men in Tights, Blazing saddles, HOTW, I am not sure which was my introduction to this gentleman, I am forever grateful for the moments created and blessed my sides never heal from laughing 🙌🥳🎊
The night I was born, Mel Brooks was on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” My admiration of and love for him know no bounds. He is simply one of the most radiant human beings on the planet.
Mr. Brooks grew up in my old Neighborhood of Brooklyn Brownville/East NY Thank you 🙏for all of your hilarious movies and so far still with us today. He was born on the same year as my father 1926.... 💪👏
@@reginamills6137 Up to about a year ago u could see him sitting at a sidewalk table w all his buddies at Porta Via in the middle of BH having lunch every Friday w his friends. He greeted and posed for pix w/ all the admirers.
We all watched the Johnny Carson show in our family I was very young but I'm so glad my dad liked it I saw some of the best talent in history on that show they don't make em like they used to that's for sure
This could have been 4 hours longer and I would have enjoyed every single minute of it. I miss Johnny Carson so much. Mel Brooks is hilarious. I use to love when Dean Martin would wonder in unexpectedly and talk with Johnny. Dean is my all time favorite entertainer! This was great television! 🤗❤
He ain’t dead yet. Doesn’t write much anymore but they catch up with him every so often and he’s still hilarious. In fact, he just finished doing the voice of a major character in an animated feature film.. (This was written 5Dec22. Let’s hope this is still true for years and years)
There is a wonderful book I am reading called: Funny Man. I am listening to it on audio book and it is totally fascinating all about Mel Brooks a.k.a. Melvin Kaminsky. His early years and breaking into show business and his struggle to get where he is now. He was often not a pleasant person especially to be married to. The book was well written By someone who was an expert biographer and shows the candid side of Mel Brooks both good and bad. The book is fantastic
Mel is a legend that spans generations. Blazing Saddles is THE funniest movie to ever have been made and when you follow the story, the line by Gene Wilder, you know...Morons, Sums it all up. In the end it shows that if you have a good heart, it doesn't matter what color your skin is. Except the Irish....Ah schitt, even the Irish. He has made some of the most memorable one liners in his movies. He shot my HAIR!
This interview improves my mood every time. Mel is just great 🙂 And, like Robin Williams, he can easily fill the whole show as a single guest and never get boring 🙂 If you like the guy, go and find an interview Conan did with him some years ago (serious jibber-jabber series) - highly recommended.
God bless Mel Brooks! Blessed be God! Thank God for the comic geniuses! God bless all the good including Johnny Carson in the Heavens Above! God bless Jesus Christ! Blessed be God All Mighty!
@@hallelujah4296 I take it you don’t watch a lot of modern comedy, because there is plenty of stuff made today as brave and brilliant as Brooks’ work ever was. Also, the only thing Blazing Saddles really mocks disparagingly is white racism; given its premise, I guarantee most of the film would be as valid and relevant were it made today as back then.
It's funny, it wasn't until this interview that I realised Young Frankenstein is one of the few movies where he doesn't have a role for himself. Great that they managed to get the original Frankenstein equipment for that picture
I'm Sure Some Folks will disagree with this Quartet; but I'd Lasso him in with Ernie Kovacs, Mel Blanc, Buster Keaton, and Carl Stalling as the Funniest Humans we've Ever Scene.. 👏👏👏
I’m amazed at how old people who are the same age as I am looked back then. I noticed that when I was watching reruns of Emergency! And they were calling in their patients age
He was able to get away with things that nobody could ever do today. Which is unfortunate. Because he didn't make fun of anyone. He made fun of everyone and everything. Including, and especially, himself. Pure genius
Melvin James Kaminsky (Nueva York; 28 de junio de 1926), más conocido como Mel Brooks, es un guionista, actor, director y productor de cine estadounidense, especializado en el género de comedia.
Mel Brooks was asking what would happen if a guest came on a talk show but didn't want to talk about anything. That very thing happened on the old Letterman show with Brian Benben, the star of 'Dream On.' Dude sat there and gave one word answers to everything Dave asked him. And it wasn't a bit. He wasn't a comedy guy. He was just dull or really just didn't want to be there.
