Stuart MacDonald's competition act is now in its final renditions, almost finished. This is my Magic Castle Performance in 2016. Booking information: magicstu.com/ www.corpmagic.net/
Stuart, I only discovered your channel today after being recommended your performance on Fool Us. I gotta say, I love the theatrics you bring into your act. It makes it so much more entertaining to watch. And seeing how you cleaned up this particular act from this video to the performance on Fool Us, it's just phenomenal. I see from the comments that you don't perform it anymore but I really do absolutely adore the theatrical elements you incorporate, even into your Richard Preston stuff. You seem to constantly be striving to improve and on that basis alone, I subscribed to your channel. I look forward to seeing more from you.
Please delete this post if i'm talking out of turn .. have you tried different approaches to eliminate that hard to conceal sequence? I just thought of a different handling while still showing the back of the mirror in the same way..i don't think it would weaken the effect and there would be less blocking and less to catch. A little modification plus some metal tubing (which could be hidden in a candle) depending how the load detaches. might do it.. I love the act, it's so good and it got me thinking ...
Yeah, your handling is better but i think you could eliminate the drapery altogether by having the load grabbed under the right arm via a stem which would project out of the back just enough to collect . I don't know the angles, weight, the size or the mechanics so i'm just waffling. Anyway, awesome job. It's one of the best routines I've seen in a long time. Delete the message if need be, i don't normally like to comment on methods...good luck.
@@StuartMacDonaldMagician Im really convinced to buy your ebook. Your act is very inspiring and for me its meaning of trully magic act. You talk with audience without saying a word. Brilliant.
I don't think you saw the air date. This act has gone on to Fool Penn and Teller, FISM North America, IBM, SAM Stage winner...It's all on this channel. Subscribe and see just how much its evolved. This was one of the first iterations of the mirror act. Thank you for the compliment.
It may be obvious to other magicians what was "not done well at all" but I don't know what you did wrong there and neither will most laypeople. You were fantastic on Fool Us, which is how I heard of you.
lawndogmoon2 - what was not well done was hiding the huge box of "gear" (from behind the mirror) under the coat. It came across a lot better on Penn and Teller, perhaps the technique was improved or the package size reduced, or maybe the camera angle was controlled better on that performance.
Like I said I don't do this act anymore. I don't like this performance either but it's good to share the progression, the good and the bad. That's art baby...a learning process.
Stuart MacDonald Magician I love it. I'm learning and planning what my act might be. Yours gives me inspiration! Your use of music, visual cues, I love it.
