Just a note for others reading: A few weeks back I decided to 'rebuild' my ComfyUI (it has got messed up by a bad download / node) but this time I chose to make the whole installation on an external 1T SSD, (- that part where it asks where you would like to install your ComfyUI ) - Python, GitHUB etc is still on my PC's C: drive. .... It works great. So much so that when I had to do a re-install of my Windows today (I know, a nightmare, all those drivers, reinstall of programs you've forgotten about zzzzz) - I plugged in my external drive.. and bingo, it runs great. So my ComfyUI is separate and safe running well, plus I know where all the images, models, Loras are etc, not filling up drives in my PC.
I feel your pain! I had been running Windows 7 long after its demise on another computer. The reason is I had dozens of programs running on that system that worked hand in hand with each other for content creation. ZBrush, 3DsMax, Maya, World Creator, Photoshop, 3DCoat, Unreal Engine 4, and many more. Finally, I had to go with another OS to use Unreal 5. For 30 years I built my own machines. I did not feel like building another monster. I bought a new machine from Alienware that had good specs. The only downside is the lack of storage space. I am adding a 40 TB RAID. So far I love the Alienware Aurora R16 but storage could be improved. In one week I have 75% of the HD filled.

I checked few tuts on how to install ComfyUI and some of them did not mention the manager, some did not include the links, some did not explain the principles of thow does it work. You checked all of the marks. Great tutorial!
I was messing with Dall-E at first, and when I converted to A1111 I was shocked how packed it was and how freely I could generate. I never imagined it was this insanely inferior. Wow.
just an FYI this did not install the upscaler for me. Easy fix but I'm a noob. I didn't know it was a model until it showed up with the red border. Either way tysm for this 101 video man! This really helped me rearrange my jumbled up comfyUI crap i gad going on.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was losing my mind trying to get ComfyUI to work. I kept on getting errors when running the run_nvidia_gpu.bat file. (I did get a lot of help from Gemini AI to troubleshoot errors) but what ultimately helped was your video. I watched and followed along every step - and when I saw the "run_nvidia_gpu.bat" in the MAIN "ComfyUI_windows_portable" FOLDER...WHAT?!?!?! I had been using the run_nvidia_gpu.bat file from the "ComfyUI_windows_portable_nvidia_cu121_or_cpu\ComfyUI_windows_portable\ComfyUI\.ci\windows_base_files" - OMG why are there multiple "run_nvidia_gpu.bat" files people! I was editing the batch file to find my Python install, then the "torch" and then on and on and on and on....down the rabbit hole only to find out I did not need any of that. Just use the correct bat file! So my PSA is "USE THE "run_nvidia_gpu.bat" in the MAIN "ComfyUI_windows_portable" FOLDER. That was the breakthrough. Thank you!!!!
It would be perfect if you showed how to get the checkpoint files, now I've already lost more than twice the time of the video and I still haven't found how
Great video, I really need your help.... I have had ComfyUI for a few months now, but it says it's out of date and there are security issues also. I have tried, and tried, and tried to update this thing for weeks on end... it will not update no matter what I do,. I have watched every YT video on installing etc, not one of them has a current working ComfyUI link, neither is there any information on how to do this, AT ALL. I have updated with the .bat file, it does nothing. I'm staggered there is zero info or videos addressing this issue. Can you possibly please help with a current working version of ComfyUI & Manager???? I'm at my wits end, I really am💜
Great video! Helped me get setup, but now i am wondering if it is possible to have 2 different comfyui environments for different set ups? eg 2d and 3d without the model folders getting congested
I was able to get ComfyUI running but couldn't get the manager installed . can't those shell commands proper. is there a way to install it manually? thanks so much for your time and help.
Unless I'm not understanding.... why are you installing python? I thought one of the benefits to using ComfyUI is that it is already self contained (portable) with python contained within the install, No?
Noob here...... So it means one did not install stable diffusion but install comfyui and install sdxl or SD checkpoints and loras in comfyui folders and we are good to go - whether ubunu or on windows - Correct ? (Assumed - Nvidia driver installed and working properly )...Please help I need this answer badly. Also does this video assume installation of PyTorch?
Hmm... are you going to do a Mac version? I'm yet to ever install Stable Diffusion anything, so was hoping to start from the very beginning. Hope you make a walk-through for Mac users!

3.10 not available any longer it seems in python.. i already had 3.10 but does this mean I need to update it? I did have issues to PATH but manually set up my PATH and it seemed to work but still having issues with loading comfy...does this mean to go up to 3.11?
Hello! My manager does not seem to work for me, the button is not in the queue menu. The queue menu is also not deattached and seems to be stuck to the right side. Any ideas?
I followed all the steps, but when it came time to run the "run_cpu" file, it opens up in cmd with the statement "The system cannot find the path specified." Was I not supposed to make a file path in documents after unzipping the file? Also I'm using Windows 10.
Hello, I followed your install to the "T". However, I get an error message when I try to run the run_nvidia_gpu.bat I get this error message "Can't find the path specified" I made sure when installing Python that I selected the same two boxes as you did the the shortcuts and variables. Any suggestions?

I followed your instructions but when I click run_nvidia_gpu.bat I get an error message that it can't find the path specified. When I installed Python the same version as you specified I made sure I checked the variables and shortcut boxes too. Any suggestions?
I can't find which python based on verbal, can you just *write it down* so I can copy paste it ? or can I just pick a random one? I'm trying to install something else further down the line and I just got 'pip' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Hi. I have Automatic1111 installed, with many Checkpoints and loras. Is there any way to make ComfyUI use the same directory as Automatic1111 to load Checkpoints and loras?. I don´t want to duplicate every file.

@@allyourtechai Weird thig was I was trying to unzip it with 7zip and it was going slow af but I cancelled that, unblocked the file in properties, and tried again in windows explorer and it was almost instantaneous. So I'm not sure if 7zip was the problem or if it needed to be unblocked.

Comfy has evolved so much so rapidly that there is a lot we had to install to get this to run before, now with the help of community input the installation has become much more user friendly. There will be more changes and even this video will be out of date very quickly. Well Done. Yes, as you say too, the version of Python in your machine can affect nodes, newer versions may NOT be compatible and it is a pain to chase it down to correct.
