Figured you would like, Pieter. I've been giving some of my old records a spin, what an amazing sensation. For sure we'll do a video but I think i'm going to wait until I have my listened to stack gets a little bigger. I'd like to show some of the records that have made it with me this far... and possibly some randoms and freebees we picked up recently in anticipation of setting up the turntable.... that said, hoping to have it out this month, and if it's not out send me a reminder and I'll move it to the top of the queue :)

Chycho I have to say that I would love to see your entire collection spread out in front of me because something tells me that it's much larger than some of us subs can imagine. Over the years I've seen many of your gems but the size of your collection intrigues me. Would you ever consider giving us a behind the curtain, so to speak, one time tour of your whole collection? Oh and by the way I had some of your pomegranate with apples and chocolate again the other night and all I can say is that chycho you are the man, peace.

haha... awesome! We're almost at the end of the pomegranate season so indulging is the name of the game right now :)) As for my comic book collection, if/when we end up doing a move to a place that I will have the space to sort the books, for sure we'll do together. It'll be a long project. Until then, this video I put out in 2016 as an update should give you an idea of what we're talking about. I don't know how I missed that video but thanks for the link. Have you ever seen the video by LeeKirbyDitkoComics of their comic book room? That guy posted a video of him busting open a CGC slabbed copy of Amazing Fantasy #15. They have the best collection I've seen for sure.

Just checked it out, nice comic book room.... as for cracking open a CGC Amazing Fantasy #15, I personally wouldn't, it's like throwing money away, just my 2 cents. On that note, a while ago I watched a comic book haul video from someone that only bought cgc books off ebay and when he got them he would open every single one... to me that's insane. He could save the extra money he was paying for the cgc slab and bought himself more books. That's me though I guess.

I don't know for sure but I think he wanted to submit the book again thinking it was a better grade than it received. He probably figures it's worth the hundred or so dollars it will cost to submit it to CGC. Personally I don't care about the whole graded thing because that whole industry is sketchy and scammy to say the least. It's even worse in the sports card hobby. The internet is riddled with stories about people getting different grades on the same books or base ball cards. They get them back in the mail and open it up and send it in again and it receives a different grade. It happens quite often. There is no consistency and no one is holding any one to a consistency standard. So with that said I think that guy you saw opening up slabbed copies was trying to get a point across. The point being that these grading companies are a joke.

That would make sense. As you know i'm not much into slabbing books, I would much rather spend that money into buying the books. And that guy wanting to re-submit the book makes sense. From what I understand, older books get graded more leniently, so if that one was graded a long time ago the odds are that re-submitting it would get a higher grade now... like you said, a joke, and in my opinion a waste of money. That said, for me, if I ever end up selling a major chunk of my collection I would probably send some of the books to be graded (I've never sent in a book to be graded yet). They just fetch a higher price, for now anyway.

haha... I was secretly hoping that someone would notice. We just set it up last week after years of not using it. I've already given a few records a go and I plan on making a video showing you guys what records I've listened to so far and letting you know which record player it is... but since you brought it up, it's a Thorens TD125 MKII turntable, love it :)

I have to say that I'm not into modern comics. But any new comic book haul video by Chycho is awesome-must-watch! The only lot I like in there is the complete Ed Brubaker's run of Daredevil (which I also own). It is right up there as one of the best Daredevil run with Frank Miller's and Ann Nocenti's. Ed Brubaker is one of the rare modern comic book writers I follow. I like that he brings to his superheroes stuff (if you don't have it yet, you have to get his long Captain America run) stories that are crime/mystery/spy oriented. I like the way he delves in the characters history, bringing back classic villains and some forgotten ones. I think Michael Lark, a frequent Brubaker collaborator, drew most of the issues and his art fits Brubakers moody noir stories perfectly. You're in for a treat if you have never read them! In any case, NM comics for less than a dollar are amazing deals! You have caught my attention with your comments about Black (btw, I too love both Holiday and Simone's versions of Strange Fruit). I will certainly look out for a set of this series.

Now I'm super excited to read the Daredevil run. Love what I've read from Brubaker so far. For me, Brubaker and Peter Milligan are two of the top serious writers in comics right now. I haven't read anything from either of them that has disappointed. Thanks for the feedback, I just moved the run up my to read list, think I'll be hitting it up after re-reading/finishing Black, having a go at Wayward, then it'll be time for Brubaker's Daredevil :)

I’m not a comic book type guy, never had much interest in them, but you peaked my interest with that “Black” series set, I’m gonna order that on eBay right after this video I hope it’s not to hard to find, I’m very familiar with Billie holiday and her life story so I can’t wait to see the how that comic cover art has been influenced by her it should be a good read, great haul keep up the fantastic asmr videos there awesome.

Thanks, Victor, and just a heads-up, I really don't know if the creators of this series had any intentions of referencing Billie Holiday, I just wouldn't be surprised based on the cover of issue #2. Billie Holiday and Nina Simone for me are basically my to go to people when it comes to talking about our convoluted history.

Chycho, just in case you didn’t know. You can always tell the main covers and the variant covers by the numbers above the bar code. The “second” number will tell you the cover number. So for example say you have an issue #5, the code will read 511. The middle number (5 *1* 1) implies the main cover. If it read 521 that would be the variant cover or the cover B, however you want to think of it, and so on through the number of covers they have! Remember if it’s a double digit issue number, the code will read much bigger I.e. #97 = 9711 (97 = issue #, 1 = cover #, 1 = printing number) Just thought I’d share since you mentioned it a few times this vid!

That room appears to be your paradise. Have you ever read any Donny Cates? He does God Country and is currently writing Dr. Strange and Thanos. Might be my fave writer out there right now.

I picked up the first three or four issues of God Country but haven't got around to reading them yet. Heard amazing things about it though, and at some point I will definitely give it a read. As for his work at Marvel, Marvel really hasn't been doing it for me so I haven't been reading his work there :(

Yeah I hear ya on the Marvel front. Cates is from my town, Austin, TX, so I've had a few occasions to speak w/ him about his work--he's done a few promo events at a local comic shop. I had never read Dr. Strange or Thanos, but decided to check them out. Glad I did.

That's good to know, I'll keep this in mind. The kicker is Thanos is one of my favorite characters in comics, became one after he made his return in Silver Surfer (V3) in the late 80's early 90's kicking into the Infinity Gauntlet (what a fantastic event that was). May be time to try out Cate's Thanos, we see... by the way, thank you for the recommendation :)

chycho Whenever is fine unless it’s a Saturday night and boxing is on. The only thing I would recommend is have your Twitter account notify your followers when you’re about to do a live stream. I follow you on Twitter also but the only reason I caught it is because I have you’re Twitch channel on alert. The three camera angle was really cool and very unique way of doing a live stream.

I would love to see where you store all of your comics and also how you organize them. Also, why do you buy multiple runs of the same comics? Just curious. :)

Cool, triple question. I like. Here goes: 1) Here is a video I did on how I store my comics: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0tqU-OGqXxk.html 2) When I use to do conventions, buying and selling books, I use to have my books organized properly, at least half of them anyway. It's been 20+ years since I did a show though so my books aren't organized anymore. One day i'll organize them, once I get into a bigger space. 3) There are a couple reasons I buy multiple copies. One is as an investment - contrary to what many people think, comic books are a pretty good place to store value if you buy the right books - and second, I do give comic books as presents sometimes and it's nice to give a great run or an arc or a series to someone. As well, it's sort of a habit I picked up when I was doing shows, one for my collection, extras to sell.

I have been reading Wayward and i enjoy it and yes it is still going. The only thing i read by Jason Aaron is his run on Doctor Strange and Thor (Jane Foster) My favourite comic of 2017 is Motor Girl by Terry Moore. I really enjoy Harrow County by Cullen Bunn. Groetjes van Jen.

I love Motor Girl. I still haven't read the last 3 issues yet, plan on doing a full read on it when the complete collection comes out. What a fantastic series and Terry Moore is in my to always read list. As for Wayward, love the covers and it looks like it's getting lots of love so I'm definitely going to read these 7 issues and see where it takes me. Love finding potential gems.

Yup, I noticed the humming during the editing. Might have to get one of those cooling decks to place the laptop on during the live sessions.
