I picked up all these books from Book and Music Exchange and the Great Escape in Louisville, Kentucky. Most of them are dollar books and most of them are from the 90's.
Great haul. Always love to see those Marvel Transformers. You’re right, it’s Jeff Matsuda. I enjoy his style. Great find with Meridian 1! Love the shiny 90s covers.
I believe that the Quasar book was a special Newsstand variant that was also available in comic shops. If I remember correctly, Quasar was not being published on the Newsstand at that time, so Marvel needed to do something or else dedicated Newsstand customers would not have access to the entire Galactic Storm story. So they just slapped a #1 and a bar code on the cover for Newsstand distribution. It was an unusual circumstance, so it is possible that there are other factors that I don’t remember… 30+ years will do that sometimes.
The Ed Brubaker Captain America saga is summed up in 2 or 3 Omnibus volumes (I think). Depending on what volumes are in print currently (for both Omnis and TPBs), it can sometimes actually be cheaper to buy an Omnibus that covers the material.
@@ericspag The quality level of new comics has become, eh… very erratic in recent years. To the point where I actually spend WAY more on reprint volumes than I do on new weekly issues. I buy a lot of the Marvel Epic Collection volumes and the occasional Omnibus. But in a typical month. I only get about 10 new issues from the stand.
The Union you picked up is actually the 2nd series from 1995, not the same as the series from 1993 but I have never seen a newstand version of that book. Talbot's first name I believe is Bryan. Did you know that the inker on Sojourn (Jay Leisten is also a local Louisville guy and Greg Land used to do graphics on cars in southern Indiana? The Quasar is an actual misprint. I think the Punisher War Journal is Michael Golden but Mycomicshop says it's Joe Jusko. I keep hoping to run into you at one of the shops one of these days, maybe the upcoming flea market. Keep doing videos and I will keep checking them out!
That makes sense with the Union book. I didn't know they did a second series. I knew Greg Land was from Indiana but that's really cool he used to do graphics on cars around here. And even cooler that the inker on Sojourn is local! Thanks for the info!
That’s a transformers 1 from the 2009 25 anniversary Optimus Prime deluxe edition with the trailer and autobot symbol that had the sound effects I believe.
