Probably the penciller's job to decide that. I'd suggest looking into fine arts tutorials or even lighting for filmmaking videos if you want to learn more about using light for storytelling purposes
Great video. You mentioned using an inkjet printer to print the artwork in blue. Inkjet dyes can become extremely running and crisp edges can start spreading like crazy when wet media gets anywhere near them. I'm curious if moisture from the black ink ever causes the blue ink to run or spread into white areas.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I found you by accident. What you do with the brush is nothing short of amazing. Is there a particular or specific reason why you don't use the different sized multiliner ink pen sets, like Micron, etc.? It seems that it would be quicker but I'll take whatever you say to heart.
JImmy Reyes thanks for replying, I get it, makes sense. After I messaged you I found your video on tools and equipment needed. I saw where you use your tech pens to sign your work, lol. I have more questions but I'm gonna wait until after I've watched all your videos, since you may have already covered each topic. When I was younger, I was pretty decent with an ink well and nib, but I NEVER did what you can do with a brush! I was getting nervous just watching you, each time I thought you were gonna bring in a pen or nib, nope, brush.
is there a way to buy or find pages of various artists to practice inking over as i see alot of inkers inking over what looks to be printed pieces of art if this makes any sense
Thanks for the tutorial! I've just started inking in the last few months, and this was really helpful. One question -- is there a way to avoid your brushstrokes showing when the light hits the inks? I'm using calligraphy ink and a brush, and while everything is very solid black, when the light hits the page at certain angles, it reflects off of some brush strokes and not others, making the blacks look inconsistent. I see it a bit in your video, but not nearly as much as in my own work, so I'm wondering if there's something I could be doing to minimize it ???
You can spray it with some kinda fixative. I use the krylon clear acrylic coating. and it will even out the black so that there won’t be any brushstrokes
