Loved the video!💕 Just started my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They offer a huge variety of digital comics for every genre, and lifetime updates too!😍

Don’t forget, ComicTom is a retailer. The more hype he can get on books that he has in stock, the better he will do financially. Just like Wizard Magazine has n the ‘90s. They owned a store and whatever book they had a lot of was suddenly a “Hot Book”. Great video too!

Theres a Wally Wood comic from 1969 called “Heroes Inc presents Cannon” I think he drew it for army service members and at sometime a big hidden stash of uncirculated copies was discovered. Not an investment type comic, just a cool one thats cheap and easy to find

Loving the shift in mentality from what it sounds like you’ve helped create amongst the larger comic RU-vidrs. I’m all in favor of helping protect people financially. After the financial damage and devastation caused to so many that got caught up in the pandemic hysteria we need this from influencers vs the buy this and that because xyz! Keep it up!

I have stayed away from Wolverine 1, Hulk 181, New Mutants 98, and a few other books because they are so highly inflated. I can get one of those books any time in the future. No fear of missing out on highly printed books.

The girl who swam in the opening scene from Jaws just passed away earlier this month. She must have took a look at that sweatshirt.

I used to think anything above a 40 cent cover price was never rare. I'm adjusting that downward to 1968. Anything after 1968 can be found without a lot of effort in high grade.

I’d say 1964

I don’t agree with the statement “there’s a lot of Incredible Hulk #181s out there. I’ve been to a lot of shows, shops, and flea markets over the past three years, and I’ve seen maybe 5 total. It’s not prevalent out there at all.

Maybe not locally or regionally to you, but online there is an almost what feels like an endless supply of that particular book

Anytime day or night all year round I can put hulk 181 into eBay and buy 20or 30 copies if I wanted to…. Yea they very common
@barrysaide
@barrysaide 4 месяца назад
@@jacobbornowsky4013 you're pulling from a worldwide marketplace. If it was a common book it would be everywhere. And, it isn't. There is no new print run on it.

That shirt is awesome. You need the 1st edition Jaws book which the movie was based on.

Re-holdered 9.9 are sketch. Anything from the 20th century (pre-2000) can't be a 10.0 Wolverine's first appearance is the final panel of Hulk 180 - the only reason for debate is to keep the 181's exorbitantly priced and protect collectors & market investors from a price collapse. Yeah, I said it.

I'm 100% of the same opinion---who the heck cares if a movie/show is good or not if the character is good!? And especially comparing it to athletes, like do Shaq cards go down because he made the terrible Steel movie? Or will Brady or whoever take a hit if they suck in the TV booth? There's literally zero correlation which is one reason I think spec hurts comic collecting overall.

I have to laugh when people tell me how “rare” modern comics are. To me, it is a joke. If you want genuinely “rare” comic books, look into ones done 70+ years ago. Case in point, take a look at issues of Prize Comics. Slabbed census copies average below 30 copies per issue. Try completing a nice set of those if you can even find them. Most early issues did not survive the ravages of time. Remember, WWII issues often had ads in them about recycling the comic after reading for the war effort.

So true, super-dooper rare books but when is the last time you heard someone mention Yank & Doodle or the Green Lama? More importantly, of that small group of people, how many of them are willing to cough up thousands for these 'rare' books? How many collectors my age (38) or younger give two shits about these books? The answer should be quite obvious which is why it is called 'supply and demand', not 'supply'. Two variables confuses most but it is relatively straight-forward...

Except Prize Comics was also the first introduction of the Frankenstein Monster into the comic book world. Dick Briefer’s interpretation of the classic character is credited as being the first horror comic story series. He continued the story into it’s own title over time. Think about how important that part is when you consider what was popular a decade later (horror) and what followed (comic code). They still make horror comics today, even Frankenstein stories, so it greatly affected comic history. As for people not willing to spend thousands on an early Prize Comics, just look at the value of issue #7 of Prize. That one is very hard to find. It took me years of searching to get my hands on it for my PC. There might be only fifty or so copies left by my estimation.
