With a senior career spanning over 15 years, Becky Downie has been one of the most recognizable faces of Great Britain’s gymnastics since 2008, ranking among their best uneven bar workers of all time. She’s a 2-time European Champion, a World silver medalist and a Commonwealth Games champion. Becky’s biggest setbacks are injury and consistency. If she can hit and steer clear of injuries, she is a HUGE threat. Here comes Beckie Downie!!

I have been rooting for her since I found out how Great Britain gymnastics treaded her and Elissa after her brothers passing. I want nothing more than to see her medal, and show everyone what she’s made of! Go get em Becky! ❤

I think this routine is the aim, if it is realistic or not we shall see in time. First step: perform well at the European championships. I am rooting so hard for Becky to make it to the Paris Olympics team, I really hope she will stay clear of any injuries until then, that is the only thing that can stop her at this point..

I think it would be better to do Downie-Pak-Van Leuwen than try to do the Bhardwaj for the sake of one extra tenth. She would have a better chance of connecting the Pak to the Van Leuwen too to make up that extra tenth and avoid execution deductions.

I really hope she is able to secure that elusive medal- maybe a team medal if nothing else. I also hope that eventually her sister makes a return as well, Ellie was wonderful too.

I hope she makes it.If she could at least make the team and finish like 5th or 4th in UB finals that would be great

Agreed that 4th or 5th is probably the highest she can go. Barring injuries or major errors , Nemour and Qiu Qiyuan will likely win gold and silver, maybe another Chinese gymnast will get bronze. Downie's form on UB isn't great and she's not as light and flighty anymore

@@poshbo Her form is great...? Her Hindorff is pretty low but she has literally 0 significant form issues in her routines. And Nemour is inconsistent with her D score.

I think she needs to downgrade a little and focus and on form and consistency. What good is a difficult routine when you cannot be consistent, risking a fall almost every time.

This routine is just SO difficult and energy intensive that I'm not sure she'll be able to make it through consistently. If she does, though, it's pretty much a guaranteed medal

If she makes the team she has a great shot but she has to be consistent and mentally strong. Not sure if she can medal but should make the final with a strong routine and GB has a good chance at a team medal so she has 2 good opportunities. 🙌

Becky has been performing some of these skills longer than I've been alive. She is capable of doing this, it comes down to her hitting when it matters and British Gymnastics taking her. They might refuse to take her because of her speaking out against abuse.

I wouldn't do the Bhardwaj unless it's perfect or she'll lose way more off the E score than the move is worth

wouldnt it be better balancing te difficulty/execution by doing a downie + pak salto + van leeuwen instead of te bhardwaj? she has even competed this combination before. just a thought, really hope she hits the best she can whatever she decides to do. so many struggles and so much fight, rooting for her to accomplish her goals

Anything can happen at the Games, from unexpected injuries and falls to the flu hitting the Athlete Village. It's all about hitting everything during that "One moment in time!"
