When Saruul Fischer came to East Germany from Mongolia at the age of eleven, she could not have known how important her homeland would be to her in the future.
She stayed there after the fall of the Berlin Wall, went to university, married and had children. Struck by a yearning for her homeland, she began developing an idea for the fashion label "Edelziege”.

Didn't like the underdeveloped nature of Mongolia as a spoiled teenager. But after studying abroad for years, I feel extremely homesick. The seemingly unlimited mountains, the sheeps and goats calmly strolling along grasses, young children riding horses while bragging about their recent victories, and the beautiful women in the capital, everything makes me feel sad, but proud.

I am Native-American but I know nothing about the Mongolian culture. But I read something about the Native-Americans being originally Mongolian before leaving there as the Clovis people stopping in Siberia, mixing with the eurasians before crossing the Bering strait into North America (Alaska) then throughout North, central and South America.

FANTASTIC STORY!!! The beauty of this documentary is Saruul's very personal perspective. I, too, was born in two different cultures, and that gave me a perspective on Life and advantage that most people do not have. Because I could then clearly see at an early age, the advantages and shortcomings of all cultures. So we must TRANSCEND CULTURE and embrace the deepest Spirit of HUMANITY.

I can imagine what this Mongolian woman from Germany, who came to her ethnic Homeland, is experiencing. The shock of the standard of living of the people, mired in medieval life and the beginning of the timid development of the country as a whole. At night it will seem that everything happens in a dream, but with the dawn comes the understanding that it is necessary to live and work.

She seems to have accepted it as her 2nd mother tongue (or maybe the film makers didn't have a Mongolian translator handy). Anyway, she's a very interesting woman ... a German-Mongolian, there's just something weirdly fascinating about such combinations.
