As the 245th Marine Corps birthday draws near, Gen. David H. Berger reminds us how the Corps' legacy lives on in every Marine. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Staff Sgt. Erik Estrada)
It's really difficult to hear about Gunny he was a very strong force in my life for well over 17 years I have a secret birthday gift for you all of you Marines actually don't die they're either awake upstairs or downstairs I'm not a Marine but I saw God in his mighty angels and I was given a chance to stay longer even though I was diagnosed with a rare condition in 2002 daddy died in 03 exactly 6 months later my Marine is gone from Iraq his MOS was 0311 I hope and pray that the microphone is saying everything correctly because I actually really have to rely on it now I don't have anybody near me except God that's perfect and my home is getting ready to be my official hospice address I had a stillborn after my husband's passing due to war protesters and I've even lost more than one child and all of my children are far away serving or healing and just trying to get through life my Marine died on my daughter's birthday and she had her baby on her birthday so it is a celebration of life of 3 I'm sorry that I had to give you a belated happy birthday I really emotionally couldn't do it I spent my time in the living room at the shadow box I don't understand society my previous comment would probably explain that better but I'm not one for attention just wanting to explain why it's belated because whether you know it or not I've always been there for you I was in early teenage wife we had a honeymoon lifestyle not a phase the only real discussion we had was that I refused a real diamond for my wedding ring nobody's going to be a peasant and dig for my diamond so they're will not be a diamond the only time I think I fussed at him is that the cemetery but I apologized simply because he made a quick decision but he made a decision I know he was in strong belief with he saved lives proud of him but wasn't prepared wasn't his only deployment and I miss the sunsets in 29 Palms I've lived at many bases lejeune Kings Bay doesn't matter what order but the first one and the last one was twentynine Palms my first address and the early 1990s was 13 desert avenue and they base General I believe was base General Stanley who would always take my son for a bike run even though he would be running if you received a care package from tattoo artists and things like that that was from me there's a place that is forbidden for dependents but I was allowed to go up there I won't say it because the microphone will get it wrong and I have to completely rely on it would not want it misspelled I'll give you a hint you always took panorama photos on it and look down at the mountain side I went up there in my high heels determined Gunny even top brass visiting and the I was allowed to take my red and yellow roses and let them go into the wind I was so stubborn about it that they didn't even tell me no they made sure I didn't slip loved how determined I was to show my love to you but not in a Jody way so if you ever had red yellow rose petals hit you while you were on base and the 1990s and even after 9/11again that was me I have a playlist for you and my Facebook is public my daughter is my legacy holder he died on her birthday she gave birth recently on her birthday I hope I'm not repeating myself but that will always be home and Marines don't die go to my playlist on here you'll know what's for you you'll know what is mine God and his mighty Angels were so bright and gave me a chance to stay or go I was able to stay a little longer my Ultimate Kevlar I pray you find him now that's my birthday gift to you I love you so much home is where my heart is and please never miss a sunset for me I really love that I'm sure I'm certain it's in my previous comments not about me you'll have how I care that's why it's there is No death to us part between him and I I also was awkward about my birthday and loved how your birthday always was scheduled on mine 17 years how beautiful however it had a deeper meaning some of your faces may never grow old it wasn't about the dress it was beyond about the dress blues I understood that even as a young teenage we kept everybody in our home I cut their hair I took care of them they brought food I found a way I cooked it I wanted them to have a home they felt trapped in the middle of nowhere and I was happy I finally got to have my family I wanted my big family I always wanted I could not tell you Happy birthday on time because it was too emotional I spent it at the shadow box this time so please forgive me for that soon my address will be my hospice address and there's no need for them to bring in that bed I'm still keeping that couch I was supposed to go before they did but I'm still here and maybe it was to tell you that you don't die all our birthdays and anniversaries were in November even wedding as well so it was very difficult and I apologize for that happy belated birthday I hope I pray you understand go see Semper Fi love you thank you for being a part of my journey whether you knew it or not in my Ultimate Kevlar Name Jesus Christ Amen Sincerely Koraleya Angelica
And may the USMC always know we the Patriots of this great Republic support you, respect you and always will! (caveat --- I'm an old Navy brat who was blessed to have shared my life with a USAF MSGT, retired, 100% s/c disabled vet -- 3 tours in Vietnam, who's last duty station was as a recruiter)
Old Corps, New Corps, it doesn’t matter. Once a Marine, always a Marine. Stand tall, and stand proud. To all my brothers and sisters, Semper Fi. God Bless.
@Old Corps Marine Easy there old salty one. First of all, Thank you for your service. Everybody knows that the Corps is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. But the men and women entering the Corps now, have no way of changing it back to the old ways. But we can still respect and appreciate the men and women, that not only serve in the Corps, but any of are Armed Forces.
@Okielawman Marines have been sacrificing their lives for this country, since the birth of the Corps. Back in the day, Marines fought harder than today’s Marines, but today’s Marine fight smarter. Then we have the units like MARSOC, and Recon, which I still believe, are a superior fighting force.
I dare any one of you "old Corps" Marines to badmouth a young man or woman who just earned the title of Marine to their face. It's a pathetic attitude that you've got if all you can do is diminish their commitment to our Corps and Country simply because things have changed since you were in. How the heck do you get off assuming you know how they will react in any future combat. Y'all are the problem for not supporting them. Semper Fi, Mac.
@Okielawman Sad that you think the young Marines are in for the benefits. When there were drafts in the past that forced people to fight. Sorry to burst your disavowal bubble, but the Marines in WW1 would consider you weak. The Marines of today will be fighting a different war then 20 years ago. Just like then Marines need to and will adapt to how we fight future conflicts. War will continue to change far after im retired and a mindset like yours disrespects past and future Marines who clench that Eagle, Globe and Anchor that they have fought and worked hard for.
The toughest 13.5 weeks of my life were MCRD, California. I thought. Then Beruit, then came the mother of all wars. I got shot, blowed up twice and lived though the pain of loss of friends and my rehabilitation. My biggest challenge was yet to come, my devorce after 14 years of marrage. I'd rather be dragged though a field of mud and barbed wire than do that again. However you wouldn't know if you saw me today the hell I've walked through. Im a survivor, and I made it because God ordained it. I just kept gritting my teeth and persevering and made it too today, but not with out the strength, will power and fortitude I learned in MCRD California. Thank you Corps, thank you Chesty. God Bless the United States Marine Corps forever...... Happy Birthday Marines Semper Fi !!!

My Dad was a Marine in WWII the Old Breed 1st marine div. He was proud I went in the Air Force and became a medic. I hope I made him proud and when I became a Firefighter he again told me how proud he was 30 year career in Fire Service and had ex Marines on my crew, all of us veterans together.
I joined the Corps in 1964 to go fight Communism in Vietnam. How about our modern Marines fight against the Communism that has infiltrated society and government right here in America.
my father was a Marine saw the flag go up on Iwo. My granddaughter is a Marine she bought me a shirt that on the back says IF YOU CAN READ THIS THANK A TEACHER IF YOU CAN READ THIS IN ENGLISH THANK A MARINE I WEAR IT PROUDLY

Happy birthday to all my fellow war dogs, SEMPER FI.. I love each and everyone of you, from the day they pinned the eagle globe and anchor on my chest. My heart and soul has belonged to the corps. I am retired now and much much older, and still my heart beats fast every time I hear the tune of marching feet and the site of our brothers and sisters in blue and gold. I still to this day sleep in a rack and find myself in my everyday work day, using Marine speak LOL much to the confusion and amusement of my fellow workers.it fills me with pride when a guest ask me over only to say to me , "your a Marine ? "I had the sister of a lady I was dating ask me one day why do you define yourself by you having been a Marine? and all I could say was I am sure you will not understand this but I do not define myself by me being a Marine , It has defined me ! It is not what I did it is who I am . Vietnam to Afghanistan 67 to 2004
All of this ceases to matter if the government and our leaders are not legitimately elected by the will of the American People. I fear the time is upon us for those of us who have sworn the Oath to once again be that difference. Happy Birthday, Marines. Semper Fi

A better wording i think would be, you become a soldier, you become a sailor, but none of them becomes a marine. Meaning that the marines are the only branch where you become the actual name of the branch
I am so happy they included the pictures of the Navajo Code Talkers from World War 2. They're one of the reasons I joined the Corps. "Were it not for the Navajo Code Talkers, the Marines never would have taken Iwo Jima." I am honored to be a Navajo and a Marine for my country. Happy 245th Birthday Marine brothers and sisters. To all the Marines out there, Thank you for your commitment, your honor, and your loyalty. You all risk your lives for our country everyday. Happy birthday. Semper Fidelis! ❤️
" I went and got Eli".... a person who goes after another human being that is being dragged away by the enemy into a forest is truly someone above and beyond, 99.9% of people would have stayed put out of FEAR, and you would never guess how brave and how much of a man he is by his looks. I truly will try harder to not judge people, his story, among alot of others, has shown me that you have NO IDEA WHAT A PERSON HAS GONE THROUGH in their life, so no JUDGMENT. The USMC ball (the actual Birthday party) isn't always on the 10th, could be the nearest weekend. This year I don't think they will have an in person celebration. That's sad.
Happy Birthday Marines, America's elite badass Warriors defending America against all enemies everywhere including terrorists and other enemies of freedom since November 10th 1775
Thank you and Happy Birthday from all us old Marines who were there when we celebrated our 200th Birthday of the Marine Corps 10 November 1975. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant.

General Gray was the Commanding Officer of the 4th Marines at Camp Hansen on Okinawa when I was there Aug 74-Sep75. We were there about the same time. He rotated back to LeJeune I think. He was a great Marine.

What a thing to be a Marine! It was fun while it lasted and a honor to serve. Really excellent cinematography! Nice little film to celebrate our shared birthday. Great work SSGT Estrada! GEN Berger & SGTMAJ Black nailed it! Happy Birthday Marines! Been slinging camera for Army Medical. Helo-Evac shoots are a blast! Always wear a 2D ANGLICO or straight-up USMC t-shirt on those days. Can't let them think I'm just any camera guy. Funny, that when I got out of the Corps, I thought I'd never carry heavy things and shoot ever again. Now, I carry heavy things, (like the Sony FX9), and shoot. Improvise, overcome, and adapt! Be great to develop this with NAV INFO West into a Pro-America film about the old-school analog days of 2D ANGLICO. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xpeAUg1tWq0.html
