Hey everyone, and welcome back to another Commander Guys' Magic the Gathering Gameplay Video! This week though, we have a great game featuring Nate playing Neyith, of the Dire Hunt [Fight Tribal and Gruul Hard Ramp]; Grayson playing Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund [Dragon Tribal]; Brian playing Zurzoth, Chaos Rider [Mono-Red Draw; Aggro]; and Spencer playing Talrand, Sky Summoner [Mono-Blue Control].

Zurzoth is definitely a sleeper hit from Jumpstart. I was pretty surprised with how effective of a Commander it can be! :D

Holy that was fun to watch. After seeing the game being played out I did not expect Zurzoth to win like that. Absolutely blew everyone out of the waters with that combo. Keep up the quality content!

Hey guys, sweet game play video!! Loved to see the handsome devil win!! One thing though: during combat, there is no 'before dmg step' and also no 'post dmg step'. The Combat Phase has five steps. Beginning of Combat, Declare Attackers, Declare Blockers, Combat Damage, End of Combat. As you move between those steps, mana empties from your mana pool. So yeah, Nate could've used the mana generated with Sylvan Caryatid during the Declare Blockers step to cast his general but only during the Declare Blockers step. Not after all the damage resolved because that's already another step (Combat Damage step). Just wanted to clear that up because the explanation in the video might be confusing for some players.

That's completely fair! My explanation was very poor there. I had an initial explanation which was more in-depth and cut it down for wordiness, and without thinking about it my abbreviated explanation is just bad. My apologies for that!

Love the overlay, editing, and how you leave in interactions like Spencer flipping the Atarka back to hand. I laughed as it looks like how i'd play after digging ~6 cards. GG, look forward to more!

I like how the decks are presented. Very unique. Could you make a video on how the stats are made? This could give us a tool when trying to select the "same" power level decks in a game. Thabk you.

Thank you very much! I'm planning to do a QnA session with Devin here in a few weeks, and one of things I was going to address there is how I rate the decks. I will admit it is fairly subjective, but there's a bit of a method to the madness!

After binging all of these games, I am very impressed with how much you've grown in commentary, and overlay. I would like to say that it would be nice to see cards in hand represented somehow in your overlay. Just a thought. Keep up the entertaining and fun content, please!

Thank you very much! A large part of why I've kept much of the original content on the channel is to show the growth--because I'm definitely embarrassed by the production quality in a lot of the early videos! As far as cards in hand, when I first made the new overlay, I actually toyed around with the idea of having a separate tracker for a lot of different tracked variables in the game. Ultimately I decided it's a tool I'll pull out when it is relevant to the outcome of a game. [Which means I probably should have used it here, my apologies!] Hopefully that clears that up! :D

Wow Zurzoth is awesome, makes me want to build him! Really hoping Jumpstart gets a sizeable reprint. I saw a handful of boosters at one LGS for $9 a pop, and haven't seen any product anywhere since :/ The new products, reprints, specialty basics, and of course the Jumpstart limited experience in of itself are all appealing but are prohibitively expensive and inaccessible for the time being.

From what I’ve heard JS is supposed to be an unlimited print run but right now distributors say they don’t have any available.

@@paulmcclain642 I got lucky and found some JS packs at Target today. Got some nice pulls, including an Exquisite Blood. I hope JS gets printed into the ground, both to make the JS limited experience readily available and to get reprints into people's hands.

Oh yeah, Zurzoth was a surprising hit in our playgroup from Jumpstart! I'm also in the same boat where I hope Jumpstart gets printed into the ground. It has an identical feel to a Magic version of Smash-Up, plus has multiple cards which are useful across formats! So here's hoping!

Nate could esponsed the dragonlord etb just cracking a clue, tireless tracker gets the +1/+1, survives, draw a card, cariatid could produce 2 manas and evolved the incubarion druid

Good catch! I missed that one in my script for the game! I think Nate was thinking Ilysian Caryatid has the same ability set as Sylvan Caryatid at the time! My apologies for that! :D

A friend of the channel gave us the two playmats to us early on, and I find they helps me focus a bit more on the game, while also providing a clearer shot. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!
