Hello Kristo, I really like your reviews. You are really good at describing a scent with your own point of view which not a lot of reviewers can do. I aldo like that you are reviewing some of less popular fragrancecs (really like your Un Jardin reviews, and Comme des Garçons collection) You earned a new subscriber! Have a nice day :)
Very well reviewed, I agree with pretty much everything you say. The comparisons to Gucci pour Homme are in fact hard to understand. I used to wear 2Man for quite some time (it's one of the few woody / incensy perfumes that work well in the summer too), but gave it away at some point because my girlfriend didn't really like it... The "oily" note you describe I would probably rather characterise as almost vinyl-like and I think it comes from the saffron, a bit like dark, melted plastic. I agree with what you say about the longevity, but I experienced quite a nice sillage when wearing this, often got compliments for it too (which is rare here in Germany). I also detect a very soft fruityness in 2Man, a bit orangy, probably the Kumquat. Oh, and it's quite an ISO-E-Super-bomb in my opinion. :-) Anyway, great scent, great review, thank you!
It's been a month since I really got into fragrances and have learned a lot from your videos. I have Encre Noir now and I love it. I have ordered samples for CDG2 Man and our Serge Lutens. Thank you!
Great review!!! I truly enjoy this scent as well (totally agree with you! i am a woman and i adore this!! but then again incense is one of my weakneses). There's a bunch of the comme des garçons frags that are under my radars. I'd love if you compared wonderwood and wonderoud! I simply trust your opinion becaude you strike me as very true to yourself, totally off hype and very strightforward.
Hi Kristo, i love your reviews especially this. I have a question now. What do you think about that opinion in Fragrantica? Do you agree with it or not? Stromboli: "Guess what guys, Man 2 is another victim of a terrible disease named REFORMULATION!!!!!! This has been ( or had been ) my signature scent since it was launched. I have just finished my bottles from 2 years ago. I repurchased a new one at my usual retailer ( I live in France ) and oh Loooooorddd! What is it? I mean you do not even recognize the fragrance, the scent itself has changed , for the worse obviously. This used to be a well balanced layering cologne, I mean you could feel the evolutions during the day on your skin: fresh citrusy opening notes, then the saffron heart and the beautiful long lasting drydown of smoky incense. What you get today ( note that prices are 5% higher...) is a queer mess of, I don't what. It has a harsh and rather unpleasant opening of , let's say pepper, then stays linear to fade away quite rapidly. So long my Friend.... PS: I ll email CDG to know when this reformulation took place. Jan 13 2015"
Thanks in large part due to your review, I ordered samples of each of those last night. Looking forward to trying them. I'm lucky enough to have a bottle of GPHII, so I'll be sure to try them side by side.
Gonna blindbuy it, just because of your review. Already ordered. Already got one blindbuy - lalique white - because of ur commercials :) Did not liked it that much, but it performed pretty good in hot weather. I live in Russia so weather here is rainy and cool, i think that one may fit well. Cristo make more videos, hope u are alive :/
Kristo try Bentley Absolute no matter how much I praise it you'll be pleasantly surprised, its close to Gucci Pour Homme 2003 but fascinating on its own and not as tame or safe as Comme des Garcons 2Man. its the only "clone" that I ever bought but now I'm reconsidering my to buy list
my all time favourite note is Frankincense & CdG 2M is one of my favourite. To my nose, Gucci Pour Homme is creamy Frankincense yet dry. CdG 2M is wet & transparent. Amouage Jubilation 25 is smoky dark berries Frankincense & Amouage Tribute is the daddy of smoky Frankincense with incenses overdose. Love them all....they are all just different.
