Here we come to an astonishining truth: the leading characters in Commedia dell'Arte are the ones without masks! We are talking about the lovers.
Lovers' role was not only essential for the plot, but it represents a universal metaphor; which is still current nowadays... Which one are we talking about?
In the next month we're going to talk about Commedia dell'Arte's key elements by analyzing its origin, its characters, myths and misconceptions (yeah, there are actually kind of a many!).

this is extremely helpful. I'm working on Commedia dell'arte with my grade 7 this semester. They've already studied improv, so I'm interested to see what they do with this form of comedy. As far as what you said in your video. I believe the young learn from the old and the old learn from the young. Both sides need to be willing to listen and play. Any advice you have for teaching these characters is welcomed too..Pleeeease. The ultimate goal is to perform the Commedia Pincchio.

Absolutely true, same cultural fenomenon in Georgia. We have even sentence that represented period in literature and than used in different situations "the fight of fathers and sons".

very well explained - that's indeed deeper than a surface look at Commedia dell'arte. Yes, my obersvation of the Danish way, compared to not only Italy but the rest of Europe, is similar. It's less patriotic, more positive to the freedom and creativity of the young generation.
