Commemorating the life of ZPRA Commander Rogers Alfred Nikita Mangena who died on 28 June 1978. We talked to some of his comrades and those who were there on the day he died. #Asakhe
The great sons of Africa really worked extra hard to liberate Zim. Their sacrifice will forever be remembered with fondness. The route from Kabanga to Kalomo was highly mined. It took a serious heart of sacrifice to use that route at that time.
Thanks for sharing the information,I remember meeting Nikita at my grandmother's farm in Shimabala(zambia)which was near a Zipra camp called Sondela that housed injured zipra cadres
I would like to correct some statements from Nyapikidza . 1 There was no concrete on the road . The first landmine was at the river and the second one was up the hill . I buried those comrades and I also went searching for the mines . We did not have metal or mine dictators. We actually used spears borrowed from the Tonga people around Kavanga . 2 Mangena and his escort did not bury a single person , the tools that were supposed to beused were handed to us . Under such circumstances we were able to bury all bodies that were intact. If my memory is still good the only parts we were unable to intere were some bones that were in the two leading trucks . I believe also that Asafa' remains were there .
A lot of ndebele pple were educated in Mwenezi.... Chief Ngungumbame was born in Mbere ngwa... Belingwe..... A lot of Ndebeles were resettled in the Midlands after their land was taken away by the whites.. Mangena wasn't Karanga of that's what u are struggling with
belingwe, isnt that you shonas like to bastardize our Ndebele and khalanga names to feed your false sense of supremacy inbred by ZANU, Belingwe is the actual name, not Mberengwa, that was midlands there was a Ndebele chief Ngungumbane there, and Nikita was Ndebele not Shonas as you wana hijack our Ndebele heritage
