COMMODORE 128D Review 

PlanetRift its such a lovely computer beautiful and able to run as commodore 64, love it. Take good care of it;-)

I just started it a moment ago.. it still works perfectly :) Both disks and tapes read just fine too. The kids are playing the old Elite atm. too ;)

I used to have one of these computers, still wish my sister never threw it out a decade ago. I used to play Wheel of Fortune, TestDrive, Ms. Pacman, Deja Vu, and Uninvited on it. Great times.

Γιάννης Γανωτής so say the c128D dident sell /popular. But i think it was because of the Amiga around same time. But yes i can imagine it must be a great machine to work on back then😄👍🏼

@@RETROCENGO actually it was Atari ST not Amiga that stole the numbers from targeted audience for C128/C128D. The price was almost the same for Atari 520ST with floppy drive as a C128D, but Atari was much better. For people who didnt want to spend, the C64c or Atari 65XE was the way to go for much better price and games didnt benefit from C128 higher memory. You also had to run the C128 in C64 mode for compatibility, so the higher clock of the C128 was not used. The idea behind the C128 was to offer a rather inexpensive alternative to "professional" PCs for home use, where your kids could play plenty of games already existing for C64, and you could use either the 80 column display (to edit same characters as your printer was printing) or go straight to CP/M OS and use same productivity programs that you used on you computer at work to continue with your work at home. But when the C128 was developed, no one knew that Atari ST would have such a great price and such great and inexpensive monitor option for productivity as SM124. So C128 was more or less dead on arrival, too slow for CP/M, too limited by RAM for GEOS, too expensive for just playing C64 games. Amiga was way much more expensive to be a competitor to C128D, in fact even the Amiga (A1000) was a pretty much a fail in sales terms, it was the A500 that brought the win for Commodore in 16bit. But the true winner and Commodore savior was the C64 and its variants, without it Commodore would be dead in 1987 already.

@@RETROCENGO you are welcome, nice video about C128D. I do own the all-in-one C128 since I love the aesthetics of it, in fact it is a second nicest 8bit computer just closely behind Atari 1200XL. And I also like the fact it is 3 computers in one (same as all C128). Didnt go for the C128D since it is similar looking to A1000 which I also own.

Amiga Wolf It will be a great idea, but please ensure that it has at least the same amount of airflow, or it will get too hot in there. Im runnin a 9dB in my A2000, best upgrade ever😄👍🏻
