Thanks for posting this, sights and sounds I havent heard for years.Loved Archon & Jumpman, Impossible Mission, Antbody remember Dropzone? Or that other one with the little helicopter were you had to shoot your way through all the levels to the main reactor or Pitstop..hehe memories.....
Gosh! I had a c64 when I was a kid, and my mom bought it from a friend of the family with a collection of over 700 random games ( including some xrated ones she never knew about ;) )... some of my favs are listed here... Archon, etc... Hearing "Stay a while - Stay Forever!" was awesome :) Thanks for posting this.
Does anyone here remember a C64 game that had you controlling a robot and one of the things you had to do was cool down a reactor of some sort? You had to tap the reactor with a wine glass. It was much cruder than any of the games shown here. BTW thanks for uploading. I still play the C64 Aliens every once in a while, emulated.
Yeah! I just can't put it in words how many weekends, days and hours we spend playing C64 games, how much fun it was...and how much I miss it! Sooo nostalgic that I could cry...
Thanks for the game list Hippocrates72! I recognized most of those (Archon, Blue Max, Defender of the Crown, etc). But some had me stumped. I'm pretty sure you got International Soccer right, as the C-64 slogan in the background is a dead giveaway. Commodore had some sort of bundling deal with that game at one time. Bards Tale 2 at 3:28 looks right too as I played Bards Tale I extensively and I KNOW its not that one! Still have them running under an emulator.
Last Ninja 2 is classic!! Never could clear it tho :(. Thanx for putting this up...gave me flashbacks as a kid waiting about two days for a game to load...lol... Then the game would end up crashing...lol... O how I miss those days..lol ;)
Oh god...Raid over Moscow!! Jumpman!! Impossible Mission!! played for hours and hours and hours and weeks and months at a time...I want to play these again so bad...I LOVED the strip poker too!! Thanks for the memories
I am 30 years old now, and up to this day I never realized the voice in Impossible Mission was saying "another visitor". As a kid all I could make of it was "Hanavavi Vita, Stay a while...Stay forever!", which makes absolutely no sense. Nice to finally get some closure.
It's when looking at these you realize how much important it is to have a good tune ingame instead of beeps and bops. Myth had a kickass splash screen tune, but only sound effects ingame (C64). The Last Ninja series was a lot more fun than most games cause they had music all the time.
wow, me and my friends used to play the hell out of the Summer and Winter Olympics games. I forget what the exact name of the games were, but those were CLASSIC!!
I grew up with an Atari 400 as my only "computer" system, and an Intellivision ECS. But as a collector, I am just getting into the world of Commodore. My question, are all of these cartridge games? If not, which ones are? Are some of them 5 1/2 or Cassette? Which, if any, would run on a Vic 20, because I recently picked up a Vic 20 with a graphic computer and cassette reader. But most importantly! Is Bubble Bobble cartridge and can it be played on the Vic? Thanks!
Thank you! I forgot the name of that game! lol! Summer Games, Spy Vs Spy, International Soccer...man, it's like I'm back in front of my C-64 typing Load"filename" 8,1 again!
Thanks. I just checked and I should have guessed 3 to begin with. I never played the Bard's Tale games, or the soccer games, so I was using screenshots to ID them. The BT title screen has the guy pictured in the video, but somehow I got the number wrong.
i remember my mom and dad and i sitting togheter playing games on the c64....these day's kids r sitting behind their pc's , headsets on , completely shutted off from the outside world. i miss those day's
What were the three games right at the start, the game at 1:00, the game at 1:29 with the bad voice, the game at 2:53 and the game at 3:30 that we didnt really see?
Who else here was saying the "Another visitor..." part in along with the video? LoL. Loved that game. Oh and Last Ninja 2 had a epic soundtrack even compared to todays games!
I made a chiptune which sounds like a game being played. Are any of these noises familiar? Paste title into bar: COMMODORE 64, SID VSTI, YAMAHA P80 and DJX 2 kEYBOARDS; "TINKY"
It's name: "Defender of the Crown." Basically a strategy game: conquer all of Britain by defeating the other lords. The jousting was a sub-game in which you could joust for territories or for honor. More honor to your name meant your battles would go better. You could also raid enemy castles in the middle of the night (sword fight). You could even save a damstrel in distress and if you succeeded you married her and got her protector's territories. Another part was castle siege.
@azshaw123 You are so right! Sony Betamax was pretty good. I still have a Commodore C64 with Floppy, Monitor and a lot of disks too. It is so cool to play the old games on a old computer with an old joystick. Memories... :-)
remember when you'd turn on the computer.. and it would turn right on ready to go! i remember typing some load,6, 9 or somethign like that.. i was very young .. but into computers at an early age
@MaRiLyN89 I think the game at 1:30 was Mission Impossible, at 1:47 was Jumpman and 2:12 was Jumpman Jr. the game at :34 seconds I am not familiar with.
Impossible Mission.Used to be my fav game.I miss the old commodore 64.Was better then any of the games out today(Btw I'm only 21.Grandparents had a commodore 64)
You can also play Maniac Mansion using ScummVM, which is an interpreter for Lucasarts adventure games. It plays many of their games. Do a Google search for it. You'll need a copy of MM, but I'm sure you can find one.
anyone knows the title of the game with the guy in the ellevator and the voice "another visitor, stay a while stay forever" I used to play it alot as kid but cant remember what it was called, thx allready
now im going to have to track down one of these things for my collection i had one when i was about 9 i think and the atari2600 before that. it was good for back in the day i couldnt remember the graphics being that good (i bet some of you laugh at that statement) im trying to collect one of everything
The Commodore 64 put Electronic Arts (EA) on the map (Dr. J vs Larry Bird). After a while, me and my friends became real leery of buying titles from any other company. We were more into sports and driving (still are). We did play 'Pirates' and that medieval game too. We never played games where tiny characters ran around on the screen... eww Buying games back then sucked because you never really knew until you got home if it was any good unless a friend bought the game first.
I had a great game for the Commodore 64. I forgot the name of it. Basically , you are the pilot of an attack helicopter. In each round, you must complete your given primary objectives and if you choose to do so , the secondary objectives. The carrier which your helicopter is based off is subject to attack when your away on missions. Thus you must routinely return for fuel and ammo and protection. If this sounds familiar, please offer your comments and name of this game. Thanks
