Thankyou for posting, this joins some dots for me. The Commodore spokesperson was ... John Laws? I recall seeing a poster with what must have been him on it as well. These older ads remind me of why I could stand watching TV up until this century. The advertisers preferred low key, classy ads rather than focussing on attention grabbing tactics and volume compression.
