I really must learn to recap one of these days.

Not that hard. Learn to solder first..

Use two soldering irons to remove the caps you twisted.
@Arcticretro
@Arcticretro 3 года назад
Yes, I will try that some time. I did not think of that:)

Yeah… I love the two iron technique too! Easy removal, less heating of other nearby components and super quick.

Hi, nice video and recapping. In one of my videos I also recap my A1200. To prevent future leaking, I used polymer and hybrid caps. And please, to every one here: don't cut the old caps. You can damage your pads.

Thank you for your video and knowledge. Having rediscovered 7 (yes, 7) Atari ST1040s and i Commodore A1200 from my loft, I will attempt to restore them all over the coming weeks. Your experience has given me confidence to make them good again.

Hey, that's nice. Thanks! Let me know how it went

Maybe the shielding from underneath the keyboard should be removed to examine if the liquid stains found on the underside of the case took its way from there. Just to be certain now after months of the first "intervention".

Nice work Tommy. This makes me regret selling my A1200 years ago. :(

Nice restoration :) My guess is also the CIA chip. To bad they are not easy to switch around like other Amiga's.

Yes. We will see what the owner finds out :)

There are some SMD desoldering tweezers out there, some of them cheap too. Are they of any use ? About your FDD, could it be the "wait state" Escom model problem like in this video ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G6fYOjTYvXM.html
