UTI 2009 .This crap almost killed me, (ciprofloxcin) I’ve done a lot of research on these antibiotics. Taking these meds are a huge gamble. It increases you chances of having an aortic aneurysm significantly because how it breaks down the collagen in your vessel. For me it was the neurological and heart impact that nearly killed me. I spent years trying to find a doctor that was up to date on the side effects of these antibiotics, ten years and twenty doctors later I found one that knew about the damages because he himself had experienced them with levaquin which is another floraquinolon. My advice to you is unless it’s killing you, stay far far far far away from this class of antibiotic. Also if you have suffered damage from these antibiotics , the only thing that has helped me is magnesium supplements. Especially ancient minerals in lotion form. Educate yourself and I think it’s awesome that this info has made its way to a tv show . Maybe this will get the word out and possibly end some needless suffering.

Please tell me what your neurological issues were. I've had a heck of a time trying to find info on the cognitive effects since I'm sure I'm suffering from them after taking only 6 500 mg tabs of Cipro. My doc prescribed Cipro as a 10 day regimen after minor surgery. I asked him if it was safe and he said "sure, people do fine on this." I stopped halfway through my 10 day regimen because of a tendon complication, at the doctor's advice. But now I'm 5 days after stopping Cipro and my short term memory is real bad, and often I'm generally confused about what I'm doing. How long will this side effect last?
@teddyparker9212
@teddyparker9212 5 лет назад
mwngw / in my case, it messed with my nervous system . Basically, I had tremors, really noticeable muscle spasms that would happen every second in my long muscles. My face . Everywhere really. My skin turned yellow and I was having massive panic attacks. On top of all that , developed dangerous heart arrhythmias. This was after only three pills. I still to this day have a low tolerance to heat . It causes my BP to soar. I’m extremely forgetful and lose things a lot. Before cipro , I was an avid gym goer. I lifted . I no longer can lift or do push-ups , due to the permanent chostachondritis that I developed shortly after taking this antibiotic. I think more than anything . It made me at some times seem psychotic . It definitely messed with my mental state and while I’m no longer like this, it caused irreversible damage in my family. It’s a terrible drug for the few and works for supposedly the many. I actually think that it’s prescribed to much as a first line defense. This drug was given to soldiers in the gulf war. 100s them where listed as disabled afterward.

mwngw you also will be hard pressed to find a doctor to side with you on the symptoms being caused by cipro. It’s so weird. We can find this info but I’ll tell you . It made me really bitter toward the medical community and I will never trust them again.

Hey, I got floxed about 2 years ago. Neurological issues as well. Heart palpitations, tingling, cold feet or warm feet/hands, ringing in the ears, also eye floaters, stomach infection, horrible anxiety and panic disorder among other things. Like you said magnesium helped a lot. I use magnesium glycinate since it's the best on my stomach. I'm curious as of today, has your anxiety and panic completely gone away? And have you been diagnosed with any major illness?

I was given Cipro by pill and IV when I had a leaking appendix that had caused an abscess and began to infect surrounding organs. Honestly the Cipro was worse than the appendicitis and surgery recovery.

They messed me up. Pains in my hands, feet and heels. It feels like tendonitis possible arthritis the last two years. Dr prescribed different antibiotics for weeks and I ended up taking two rounds of this class of drugs all over supposed sinus infection. She shrugged it off when I asked about the medicine. I haven't been to see her since.

I took Bactrim for 2 days and now my body is no longer able to regulate my heartbeat. If I do any kind of activity, like walking, my heart rate skyrockets and I feel like I'm going to pass out. I went grocery shopping yesterday and had to sit down and drink a Gatorade half way through and barely made it to the cash register. I'm only 43 years old. For ME, it didn't go away after I was done with it. I took it 5 times (from 4 different drs), which is very telling of how much they are prescribed. These ppl are great drs advising ppl to take precaution about any antibiotics, because they ARE over prescribed, and sometimes without even basic, proper testing. That was done to me with cipro. The first time I took a fluoroquinolone, it was levaquin via IV actually, WHILE I WAS PREGNANT, which is STRONGLY advised against by the FDA even BEFORE the black box warnings "pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take this antibiotic for any means unless death could result." Now my daughter suffers tremendously! She can't even take most other antibiotics, because the previous poisoning of levaquin has caused her to be sensitive to cephalosporin antibiotics like cephalexin and bactrim, it causes her symptoms to flare up tremendously! SINCE the black box warnings were revised to include CNS/nerve damage, other serious debilitating injury and DEATH as a result of this drug's side effects, INFANT/CHILD EAR AND NASAL DROPS WITH CIPRO HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE FDA! So if you think for a second that the FDA is doing its job to PROTECT you and yours from being injured, THINK AGAIN. I can't work anymore because I took this so much, and with each prescription my issues got worse and worse, and I never associated it with these antibiotics, because I never thought antibiotics COULD do such a thing, plus the reactions were slightly delayed until after I had completed the prescription. Now I suffer back, hip and leg pain that you wouldn't BELIEVE, to the point where I can't sit in one position for more than 10 mins at a time, or stand at all for 15 mins without feeling EXCRUCIATING stabbing pains,, burning sensations and numbness that causes me to collapse or nearly collapse! I get headaches on a very regular basis, I can't digest most foods, including fruits and veggies, my eyes can't stand sunlight, I burn after only 20 mins in the sun, my organs are slowly starting to fail, and my brain "looks like an 80 year old's brain with lesions similar to that of a stroke patient" according to my doctor! My daughter has severe insomnia, she also can't digest most foods, her kidneys are slowly failing, she has chronic gastritis, childhood onset arthritis, chronic relapsing muscle inflammation, and recurring anemia, she also doesn't absorb the proper amount of nutrients from food. BEWARE THIS DRUG AND OTHERS! ALWAYS READ THE WARNINGS AND POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS AND TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY!

Kyah Kelley I was injured too. It was terrible. I healed using Gerson therapy, Bemer therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Glad they are talking about this. Hope no one else suffers from this poison!
@richardrowlandadastraperaspera
I have suffered now progressively for 6 years after taking Cipro for a urinary tract infection... I have taken Keflex and seem to get no reactions... And I will say Supra was effective in taking care of urinary tract infections... But the side effects of muscle weakness... To the extent that I can not walk without a walker... And even with a walker only go about 50 ft... This drug has ruined my life... And I think in the future... Those of us who have been destroyed by this drug... Will blame not only the FDA and Bayer and Johnson & Johnson for not being careful enough with this drug... I can tell that eventually I will probably become a suicidal or homicidal as a result of this drug... I pray that something will be done about the side effects... My general practitioner says probably the only thing that can be done is something doing complete blood replacement and stem cell treatment... I'm going to ask for that but if I'm not given something to resolve this issue I will go off the wall...

I had real bad heart palpitations/irregular heartbeats, with my left side getting soo tight like a knot then went loose again! Went to A+E saw a junior doctor which wasn't that concerned and just said I needed rest though I begged for an MRI scan etc having blood tests take soon to see results of of bone inflammation in my body. I use herbal medications ... and they've always worked within a few hours. At the age of 78 I regard antibiotics as a threat to my health ... However, using Macrobid over and over again for UTIs gave me a stomach ulcer, which nearly landed me in the hospital, and it didn't completely clear my last UTI. So, my urologist thought Cipro was the next best choice, as it had less of an effect on the GI tract and worked a little better than Macrobid at killing the bacteria embedded in the urinary tract.
