A male Common Kingfisher Alcedo atthis is shown scanning a chalk stream for potential meals in a small London park. For some reason the orange plumage can confuse auto-focussing - possibly related to the colour and the lack of definition as perceived by the camera, so it is recommended that manual focussing should be used to film these birds to avoid any disappointment. The film was taken as an afterthought after taking a much better quality series of still photographs, a few of which have been included here.
