Some of the common mistakes beginners do on the speed bag, bad habits and how to fix them. #speedbag #speedbaginstructions #speedbagtutorials #boxing #MMA #Boxingdrills #speedbagtechnique
By the way I started with speed bad two years ago and it was very frustrating and not fun. Tried to just go fast. Then I warched you over and over again and I do the speed bag everyday for two years now and am on my 4th bag. Finally bought a decent bag. I am retired two years now and look forward to the speed bag every morning thanks to you👍 11:58
Using your tips I doubled my rhythm speed by about two in two sessions. With that last session being my fourth session on the speedbag in total. Thanks again boss
Dude I've never related to a comment more, literally my first session after watching maybe 3 of his videos my rhythm timing and hand motion had gotten 2x as good
@@ajdemaiter2000 its been about six months and ive been training speedbag on and off. I def plateaued but also Ive noticed replacing the stock swivel that came with my speedbag increased performance. Def try that if you use equipment at home brotha! I can link you to show u some good ones.
Totally, I was messing around 2 days then saw these videos day 3-5 learned so many of the different methods - straight curl, double tap, transition, loving it!
"speed is the enemy of technique" love that advice Coach. My wife and I are new to the speed bag and focused on your first 3-4 videos for beginners. We practice and then re-listen/watch them over and over. We keep picking up on new information in each video. What advice do you have on bag inflation pressure for the beginner. If I keep it on the lower/soft side I have much more control when I do those miss strikes. If I have it pretty firm, its fast and those miss hits off center can go wild pretty fast. Is the lower inflation a "crutch" forming bad habits or is it okay as long as I put technique over speed? Thanks Coach.
Thank you my man. Appreciate the kind words. You won’t develop bad habits on a slower bag. Actually it is a better way of learning the speedbag. Once you find your self comfortable with the tricks you learned, you will catch yourself going faster. Only problem with inflating and deflating those bags is that they stop holding air and they become useless. So make sure you wet the needle and the bag air hole before changing it’s pressure. And keep up the good work.
Another fabulous video Coach! I started working the speed bag about 3 months ago, and I love it. I work my bag about 2 hours a day - it is THAT enjoyable. One question: I've upgraded my swivel, but would like to upgrade my bag. I have the standard Everlast black 9X5, but would like to move to a faster bag. Any suggestions? There are a lot of Title bags, but I'm not sure which model to choose. Thanks from Texas!
Morning Cody and my future home state Texas. I know how addicting the speed bag could be. It is a fantastic excersize for the shoulders and great way to improve eye hands coordination and speed. Here is a link to my favorite speed bag . www.titleboxing.com/punching-bags/speed-bags/title-boxing-super-speed-bags
Coach, you are smooth! Hooked on your vids and have learned a ton, thank you for that. My gym is mostly a weightlifting place but off in one corner is an old cheap speed bag platform. Trying to talk the owner into a new one. Any insight into what to look for or what to avoid? Or advice about how to get her to upgrade on something that right now Im the only one using it?
Hey there. Make sure you get some thing that can be hight adjusted for different hight people. Also the thicker the wooden platform the less vibration. Title Boxing ad Valor fitness both make an identical platform for under 300 dollars if that is doable I recommend it.
i bought a speed bag with a platform and i think i got a shitty one, the platform is kinda thin(about 1 inch) so i wobbles and the swivel is the worst, its the two hooks one if you know what im talking about and its so long even when i punch as hard as i can i get about 5 rebounds what do you reccomand to change first? now with the coronavirus i cant really order parts is there any diy improvasation i can do?
Well I am afraid your biggest problem right now is the bag. You need a smaller and a better bag if you can get one I would start there. Then you need a better swivel. I recommend you visit Titleboxing.com under speed bag section. Most products there are good. If you need more details here is a couple of links to my other videos regarding this subject.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6C7Y4J3Jg74.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mtL1W8W68CQ.html
5 rebounds on a hard shot to a speedbag is pretty normal. Punch less hard and speed up improve your follow up. Also, make sure your bag is inflated to approx. 4psi, and if the plate/stand vibrates put a couple bags of sand on top (wrapped in duct tape so they dont split or leak). Keep grindin'.
I notice you barley touch the bag and it bounces. My bag barely reacts. I have to smack the sh!t out of it inorder to get it to bounce quickly like yours. Do i need a new speedbag? Should i put more air???
If your bag is new, it won’t bounce as easy and will take some seasoning before it bounces faster. But if it’s a seasoned bag then you should get your self a new one.
@@AhmedShraim I finally got it! Just kept at it and eventually it started reacting more as i adjusted my form, timing, etc. (Also i tightened up the mount to reduce vibration and oiled up the swivel just to make sure.)
I had 5, shoulder surgeries and trying to get into the timing bag and just cannot get close to the timing. I am unable to keep up striking, the shoulders are cramping and I try to keep going but where I hit is hard to control and will get way off the mark. Any ideas? Other than stop.
First of all I salute your perseverance. Don’t give up. Your shoulder muscles will have to grow stronger. It might take time, but they will eventually stretch and grow to keep up with your awesome spirit. I recommend you drop the platform as low as possible without you hitting the wooden part and practice as often as you can manage the pain. In time, start raising the platform gradually as you grow stronger.
@@AhmedShraim Finally warmed up enough to get regular at the bag, FYI, speed bag untill sore then shoulder shrugs 15 to 25 reps then back at the bag. Shoulder pain GONE I am telling you any one with shoulder pain DO THIS. People you will kick yourself that you did'nt do this before. I could not sleep pain was terrible life was crap. Thank you.
6:40 I have this problem, I got a generic speed bag that is integrated in a home-gym, I see your speed bag has a strong metal hook, mine is just the same material of the ball which is very flexible, could that be also the problem? did you try on a bad speed bag if you have that problem? here is the home-gym and you can see the speed bag, it is not inflated on that showroom, but you can see the hook, it is also quite long for a speed bag? http2.mlstatic.com/multigimnasio-kawasaki-50kg-con-pera-de-boxeo-el-mejor-D_NQ_NP_805002-MLA41616646441_052020-F.webp
I have a thrasher house swivel and that thing swings EVERYWHERE. Not impressed for the price, the swivel seems to be geared towards tricking with the bag. Just an fyi on swivels
Quick question, how do I know when my bag is filled with enough air? I overinflated it when I initially got it and the bladder was coming out the top. It's the cheap everlast kind. Thanks
IF the bladder is already coming out of the bag, then don't waste your time and order that Title bag. It is worth it. The bag should have enough air to be hard enough to give you enough speed.
The only boxing experience I have is training at Morris Park boxing for a semester when I was 15 or so. Other than that I was a wrestler in high school and tried a few other sports for a short time including cross country, indoor track, and training with the crew team during their off-season. And some Tae Kwon do as a kid which I stopped after realizing how badly taw Kwon do doesn't work against anyone that has any punching skills lol. By that I mean wrecking some higher belts in sparring and then quitting haha. But I was like thirteen at that time. I'm 28 now and a third year med student.
@@bxmully Very cool my man. Sadly Tae Kwon do and Karate are NOT being taught as real martial arts anymore in the US but rather a rip off program for little kids. I get blackbelts Tae kwon do in the gym often and they never can hold their own in a fight.
4psi is usually standard inflation for speedball or double-end bladder.. going higher will make it a bit quicker, but will eventually split the bag open over time.. you'll blow a few cheap ones apart on your journey to greatness..
