Use the A37 Bearing to plug the valley holes. It’s sold at your local Orallies.

Use the national brand a37 or the timken set37 I believe, the cheaper versions have smaller bearings in them but still work barely tho

Scoggin Dickey sells a afm delete kit that comes with the plugs for underneath the valley cover. Also lingenfelter makes a rivet gun and rivets to plug them off, you can get it from summit. Just make sure you remove the program from the ecm if you do the delete.

I purchased a used 2003 GMC Sierra SLE that was owned by an elderly man and he got it when it had 150k miles. I got it with 175k miles and it had a rear main seal leak and failed oil pressure sending unit. Got it cheap and its a mint interior and exterior. When we fixed the rear main seal we dropped the oil pan to replace the gasket and it was full of sludge. My Luck so we cleaned it all out and though that has to be the pressure issue. Looked through the top of the motor with a bore scope and it was not full of sludge so I wondered if the O-ring was bad and it was not getting enough pressure to get all that oil out of there if it would sludge up? Anyway trucks worth fixing and I am going to do an engine. As of now engine runs fine does not use oil and does not knock so I think its worth fixing as is. I plan on running Liqui-molly through it once I get the pressure issue fixed. Cold start its at 40psi once it warms up driving 70 its 20psi and at idle it drops to 5psi.So my guess is the O-ring, possible Oil Pump however they are not known to go bad. Could be the valley pan gasket like you showed so ill check the bolts see if they are tight. I want to have pressure when I do an engine flush. I know these engines are good I owned a 2004 5.3l and maintained it well sold it with 300k miles that is why I purchased this super clean 2003 model. Even if I have to get a new engine its better than anything made right now new.

Number of things could cause it man bad cam bearings o ring. If it was mine I would pull the valve covers see if it was sludged up use a rag and brush and cleaners to just remove the bulk.. or add diesel or atf to the motor oil and let it sit idle and run then Change the oil. use a wix or ac Delco filter only.. lastly you can put a mechanical oil psi gauge on it either down by the power steering or where the existing sensor is. You could try nosing the front end down a steep hill and see if it changes too hope this helps -Glen

Thanks I will. The thing is I checked the oil saw it was clean and judging by the body condition looked like a fantastic buy, but sludge can be difficult to know unless you run a bore scope which I plan on doing on any future used purchases to avoid it happening again. Once the new engine is in I will have a nice truck that will last me another couple hundred thousand miles. These modern trucks made now just ain't worth the prices being charged. @@rm33321

I am running a qrt of atf now and driving it regular I was told I can go 500-1000 miles if I drive normal and it should not harm it. With it having 177k miles and sludge seen in the oil pan I am at the place on whether to just go ahead and replace the engine. I do not want to do it if its not necessary because I know if taken care of these engines can easily go 300k miles or more. If I had a garage I would pull it myself, but I do not. I got a quote for $6100 Jasper 4.8l with the install kit that replaces water pump and all the other wear points. That is not a bad price and its a reputable shop. I am not a huge fan of Jasper, but many people have had good luck and the warranty being good at any Jasper dealer in the country is good to have. Certainly worth fixing the truck is in mint condition body and interior so new engine and rece transmission its basically a new truck. Being a 2003 model it will last a long time. Better than these modern over priced trucks out now. Just me:P @@rm33321

My 4.8 is the second worst truck I ever owned. Always something wrong with it. This oil pressure issue is the last straw. This Chev will get a good detail when the snow goes away and it will go away also. The prize winner worst was a '86 Dodge 318.

I got a 2008 Yukon Denali 6.2l L92 cammed, new lifters, Melling oil pump, 169 degree therm, running 10w-40, cold start oil pressure goes up to 40, when warm drops down to about 30…is that not normal?!?! Smh

Xis ther some kind of filter right under the front of vally cover looks like a piece of foam off a old egg crate mattress it's been running fine wondering it meeds cleaning

I have low oil pressure in my 6.0 ltr hummer h2. Changed pump lifters heads. Oil pressure gauge to the engine, only 15 at idle after all that . Truck has no noise, sounds brand new. Has 151k. My question is could the rod bearings be worn out causing low op? If so, is there away to check them? Thanks😊

There is a high pressure relief valve in the oil pan i would do away with that.... my 6.0 l96 09 avalanche it's a non dod motor but it starts up holds 40lbs then after it warms up drops to like 10 lbs but increases with rpm I'm going to drop the pan and do a video on the oil psi relief valve and possibly look at the bearings .. maybe oil pump or something like a bad o ring causing loss of psi like you my motor runs great no glitter in the pan

How do i no if i got a gen 3 i have a 4.8 02 gmc excab had 4o+ ant cranked 3r4 weeks cracked up today was 42 cold dropped 20 22 pds go up 25 r so back down

It’s it possible to have a lifter bleeding off oil pressure but not be totally collapsed? There’s no misfire… but have low oil pressure, 10psi hot ( car has a new oil pump and o ring) considering pulling the lifters out for normal ls7 style lifters, cause oil looked good I’m having a hard time believing it’s the bearings at 100k even

How do you know you have low oil pressure? Have you hooked up a gauge to the outfeed on the oil galley? Don't trust your dash gauge, it could be giving you a bad reading.

​@@rm33321my 5.3 starts and sounds normal but once it gets warmed up the oil pressure light comes on EVERYYYY TIME,. PLEASE IF ANY HELP I WILL SEND YOU $$$.. i have changed sensor,all gaskets and oring and oil pump and still does the exact samething..

2011 5.3 LC9 diablo tuner AFM delete. Now low oil pressure and no low end torque (power hits at 4 to 5k rpm). Any ideas? Is the DOD AFM VLOM VVT BS affecting my power still after delete?? Help

Look at the sensor and screen maybe clogged.. I have had trucks that when I changed the oil filter it gained psi too

So i have a unique issue. Every time I start the engine in my 4.8l vortec 2001 the oil pressure wants to stay at 0 & the motor has makes a weird ticking noise.... so for the engine to maintain oil pressure the only thing I can do is give is some gas with my foot and I keep the RPMS at 1000 until the temperature gage gets to 180° to 220° DEGREES & I've noticed once the truck warms up to that mark on the temperature gage then the truck will maintain oil pressure at 40 & driving it the truck maintains 50 to 60 oil pressure. Once the truck is warmed up I can turn it off all day off & on no problem while maintaining oil pressure but the engine or lifter is creating a tick. What do you think? Thank you 😊

Sounds like a broking seal oring or something bc thing expand when warm could be a pick up o ring park on a steep down hill incline and start it and he If it changes

I have a 6.0 ls. And it was on zero and I give it a shot of gas and it goes to 40 and stays there.. then it worked for about 7 months.. and then it got cold out , started the truck up and it was at zero.. I tried to do what I did before by giving it a shot of gas.. and it only went to 20psi. Then slow went I down under 10 to 0.. so whatever it was that was going bad.. finally gave up… I’ve changed the o ring and pump so far last weekend and still only get 20 psi then it falls under 10. So now I’m gonna try changing the oil relief valve on top the oil filter in the pan. I pray to god it works after that.. I don’t want it to be a cam bearing or anything….

O-ring on the oil pick up tube in the oil pan. Search for it. Very common problem and it'll affect 100% of owners eventually. Not bad of a job if 2wd, 4-6 hours if it's a 4wd but not very difficult if you can wrench. $3 part + oil pan gasket + oil and filter for oil change. A bit of labour but cheap on parts.

Use atf or diesel before your next oil change let it sit and idle for 30 mins and change it recommend using ac Delco or wix filter

I have 2000 Chevy Suburban 1500 5.3 very very well taken care of since my dad bought it off show room floor . It has 343,000 miles runs beautifully!!! I get many compliments. So , my rear main seal starting leaking . Took it in to some scum bags so called Mechanics. They called me to pick up my truck . When starting it , I HAVE ZERO ZERO OIL PRESSURE !..!.!.! None !! THESE SNAKES ARE TRYING TO TELL ME I MUST HAVE BLOWN MY ENGINE ON WAY THERE !!? WTF !.!.?.? I TOOK MY TRUCK FROM THOSE SNAKES NOW TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WTF THEY DID !!!!!!! Starts right up sounds like lifters aren’t getting oil nothing clanking .. I have to get back home to Texas I’m in woke DEMONRAT Los Angeles I’m desperate !.!.
