MCs like Common aren't very common. To do an 8 minute freestyle you can tell he has sincere passion for Hip Hop Culture because even with the amount of years he has been in the scene there are some that refuse to freestyle. So this is legendary right here...very true or definitely agree?

talent seems like the wrong word here - talent always seems to imply some special predisposition / natural skill but what shines through with common is deep dedication and joy in the craft. he's insanely skilled and refined via those aspects more than any kind of special or born talent.

Thing is a lot modern rappers (the Carti's, Uzis, Migos etc.) aren't even competing like that. They're not from that competitive side of being lyrical. It's a whole different style. Their fans don't listen to them for that reason. Rappers like Joey, Vince, Mick Jenkins, JID, Rapsody are definitely competing though. And killing it
