I think your reading journal is a breath of fresh air. Finally, someone who doesn't keep one just for showing off their artistic skills. I can see from how much writing you have in there that you do read very deeply. I love all the journals you keep; it makes me glad to know that there is someone else who keeps almost as many as I do. Beautiful video.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I do love making the pages pleasing to the eye, but my main goal is to write. If I try too hard to make things "pretty", it makes me less eager to grab my journal, because I know I'll have to spend time on making it aesthetically pleasing. I soon stopped, haha.
I love seeing so much variety in the journaling community! For me, as an artistic/creative person, without the art or decorations I would only have 1/3 of the motivation to journal. For creative people it’s as much or most of the love of journaling! And without those things in other people’s journals I can only appreciate the nice handwriting or pen for a limited time.
It was so nice to hear that it is okay to read slowly - I struggle reading quickly and it can take me a long time to get through a book. Your journals are beautiful and it really wants me to make journal now. I always start and then it falls off, but I think I will start one and not overthink it and progress from there! Thank you for sharing them with us and discussing something which is personal to yourself 🙂
You're so welcome! Ah, maybe you can turn it into a habit. Don't put too much pressure on it - just write :) It's absolutely okay. You'll get so much more out of a book than someone who's a fast reader. 🤎
Beautiful journals. Too nice for my handwriting. I stopped keeping a journal at age 20. For a couple of years I typed a daily entry on a manual typewriter. I once revisited them many years ago. I didn't recognize the young man who wrote those words. The past is another country, we did things differently there.
I recently went through my old journals, and I was shocked to see how much I changed over the years. My handwriting was so different, too... Thank you!
Totally agree with what you said about reading slowly. Since doing that and writing down passages that strike me, I've come to appreciate what I am reading so much more. I remember things about the novel better, and can recognize themes, symbolism, etc more readily than previously. It does take me along time to finish a book, but I cannot go back to fast reading anymore 😊
I’ve been hearing more and more about commonplace books. I used to think I had to put everything in one notebook. But I like that you have several for different subjects. All of your books are gorgeous. I might have to check out Paper Blanks. And I love your handwriting. I loved seeing your journals! Thank you for sharing them with us. 😀
First of all, I love content like this! I keep many journals for different things, but I want to thank you for giving me the idea to keep a commonplace book on the craft of writing. I have all these things saved on my phone where it's difficult to find when I want it, yet it did not occur to me to put it all in a notebook. I am going to start that right away.
Very lovely! Thank you for sharing. I try to not read people's notes when they're sharing things like this. I've seen some videos where people blur out any personal things they don't want shown. But I don't know how it's done. I would like to get back to paper journaling someday. I did it for years and years. Once online life came along, I did it digitally. But there's something special about writing. Unfortunately, I am not in a life space where I have or am able to do much. I am mostly stuck at home. I hope that will change soon. Congratulations on your wedding! NZ is a dream location for me too. Not just because of LOTR (which I also adore) but because it is so very beautiful.
At first, I thought about blurring things out, but I changed my mind. :) I hope you will be able to change things, I wish you the best of luck. Glad to hear you like journaling! Yes, there's something about writing on paper - it's so much better than typing! Thank you. New-Zealand was amazing. I hope you get to go one day.
I certainly went through a phase in my life where I watched a lot of French movies and I do hope to read some French authors in the not too distant future. Your journals are quite lovely!
In no particular order: The Last Metro directed by Francois Truffaut, Un Homme Et Une Femme directed by Claude Lelouch, My Night At Maud's directed by Eric Rohmer, Things To Come directed by Mia Hansen-Love, Celine And Julie Go Boating directed by Jacques Rivette, La Rafle directed by Roselyne Bosch, Don't Worry I'm Fine directed by Philippe Lioret@@ProseAndPetticoats
I watch RU-vid but I dont use other social media because for me... reading/watching something and using my commonplace book is more interesting. mine is A5 size and I always have shopper of backpack with me (for water and my medicine phone and stuff like that I always need wet tissue and so on) So I keep it with me always. when I am bored even if I dont have book with me and I maybe dont want read through phone (my head hurts if I use laptop or phone much) so I just take out my commonplace "book" and reading through and adding something new entertains me enough. Sometimes I ask my friends/family/teachers/random old ladies I make friends with while having a walk on a beach 😅 to write a quote they like or can think of from me. So I will think of their quite later. Or I ask them to write advice they have for me or just anything they want to say to me.
of their quote* later* a know I make a lot of mistakes writing in english but I am glad my comment was understandable because I didn't use translator while watching and while writing my comment. I study just by myself so don't mind my mistakes ♡
@@ProseAndPetticoats Till now everyone was happy to do so! Never have I ever been rejected! I guess people like to be remembered so even strangers I just got to know by chance and will never meet again agree and write something for me (I usually ask elders because they lived a life you know they have great advices!) they also will write something like "with all the best wishes for you live a long happy life Maria the granny you shared table with at the cafe ♡" really cute memories too! (sometimes I write what they tell me to write because they cant see good or their hand are shaky or something)
@@ProseAndPetticoatsalso worry for many comments. But I only now saw videos with your face and YOU ARE STUNNING! U look like you are the sweetest person anyone could meet in their life! (if you are uncomfortable with compliments about looks. I am truly sorry)
@@marsaaas That's great. Thank you for sharing this, it's truly inspiring. I don't know if I'd have the courage to ask a stranger. Don't worry, I understand your English! And thank you so much for the heartwarming comment. It brightens my day. :)
i didn't know i already had several commonplace notebooks! amongst them i have one for books i read and one for books about writing, not pretty though lots of dumping notes!
I also had never heard of the word and, just like you, I realized I was already commonplacing! Wonderful. :) Tomorrow I'm posting a new video on the topic.
This question is a bit personal, if you don't mind my asking You said that you had passed the point of being obsessed with page-count, and it doesn't matter so much for you anymore. This seems to be a very wise approach, hence the question: how old are you? :)
